this is a C55 I found on mobile.de, maybe a real or fake C55?

However it's got some weird autogas conversion for other fuel to be driven on?

Any german members on this forum, can you check this car out from license plates if this car is a genuine C55 and check the complete options list for any special steering wheel and the 300 cluster?

It just drives on normal fuel but it can also drive on german eco fuel. Alot of cars can, no conversion. Hope i have helped you with this

I believe that Kowalski is saying that if one can acquire the VIN, then that VIN can be checked to see what options the car came with originally, including the 300 kmh speedo, among other things. Then then car could be verified as an original C55 or not.

I have a feeling that car is a lemon. I thought the real C55's were produced in 2000 only. As per notice, the car is 03/99 (one month older than mine)

if this is a genuine C55 then it should have the genuine 300 cluster.
parts number is interesting to know about this 300 cluster.
asking dealership about 300KM/H clusters partsnumber w/o a cars correct VIN they know Jack shiiiit!
therefore any help from our german forumbuddies is highly appreciated if they could take this cars licenseplate and check this cars cluster #ps numbers @ the dealer.

Yes factory AMG W202's were produced with the 5.4L M113 engine. This was an option that was available for $30,000 (EURO) so about $45,000 (U.S)

I believe there were around 50 of them produced, definitely the most coveted W202's out there...

I have never even heard of one imported to the states

from what i've read before, they started doing c55's late 98's (for 99 model year). 2000 model c55 would be the rarest if they ever existed. i think i read read it on mb enthusiast magazine. speaking of rare, anyone know anything about the mclaren made/tuned c43?

The car has 165000 km, the engine only 45000 km... so it seems it is not the original engine.

The German AMG Owner's Club has more details and perhaps can answer more questions. IIRC, there were about 30 of these W202 C55s made, and prior to MY 2000. The conversion at AMG Manufaktur would have increased the cost to well beyond that of a W210 E55.

I don't know if mines is now a fake C43 with a 5.5l inside with the C43 badging or vice versa.
