DIY oil changes
I ran across a thread in the C63 section that talked about using an extractor to change your oil rather than draining it through the pan. There is much discussion on which is better but I did notice that the dealership uses an extractor. I think I may go this route every other oil change so I still get the pan drained from time to time and have the best of both worlds.

The cost of the first oil change will be higher than if you took it to the dealership due to the cost of the pump but after you have purchased the pump you will be saving $30+ each oil change which will definitely add up as well as not having to deal with the dealerships and scheduling an appointment which is worth EVERY penny to me.

I've been using a Topsider since before this CLK and think vacuum is the way to go. You won't miss not having to replace seals and drain plugs, or having to put the car on ramps. It's also good for PS fluid swaps. If I had to buy another one, I would probably go with a Mityvac or a Motive.

I can understand the simplicity (??) of a pump and oil extractor, but I remain a fervent partisan of the "good ole" method of running the oil out the bottom using gravity 
and letting it flow out thoroughly. It may be more time consuming but I prefer having the peace of mind of having less old oil inside the sump

Does it get the "shavings from the bottom of the pan" (if anyone has shavings in their pan, they have bigger issues), does it get all the oil, did dealers start doing it this way because they're lazy, does it take longer, is it more expensive, vacuum, compressed air, or electric - this discussion has been going on for over 25 years. However anyone decides to remove the oil from their car is probably best for them.
That said, is anyone using a Mityvac 7300? The one that uses an air compressor?

Might have to get one of these!
My catch pan does not fit under my front bumper/oilpan lol. then again, ramps also dont fit under the bumper. This will save me the headache of having to jack it up when I want to change my oil lol
