I know how hard the situation you force now,, many many different models & wires type in each of MB production between (1998 to 2006),,

You want me to confirm something that i can’t even know,, your car is far away from me, and i don’t know even which version of wiring you have, me & my friend got the same 1998 C43s, when i removed the wires, i noticed he got some different wiring from TCU to the Tip it self, and also he got "2" Extra wires (red & green) that connects to the Tip, but I DON’T HAVE THOSE EXTRA WIRES IN MY CAR, although we HAVE THE SAME 98 C43, and everything else are the same,,

I hope you got my point my freind......

The PRND4321 shifter will not have CAN wires at all. Or a stop lamp input or WOT detent. Actually the reverse lights are the only wires there that I would use. All the other wires go to the etc module for shifter recognition. I would start fresh and wire in the new shifter with new wires other than the reverse lights.

So, Connector 1 is R/P lock out. No longer needed.
Connector 2 is the range switch wires to the etc for selector position. No longer needed. Although pin 7 gy/bl is 58d and can be used. Pin 3, brown is ground.
COnnector 3 is reverse lights. gy/ye is to the lamps and bk/bu is power in.

Thankss for the pics.,

Those wires & connectors Exactly like mine,, but as i suspect: my friends car has a different wiring,, it has different shape & it has a green instead of Blue/White in connector "1", and doesn’t has Red/Pink & Blue in connector "2", and Red/Green instead of Blue/Black in connector "3",,

We change the Red/Green from pin #27 to the pin #34 & Purple pin #10 to the pin#29 & White pin #25 to the pin#38,, all that changed was done in my friends car,,

I didn’t do that swap in my car, cause i noticed the difference wires compared to my friends, it may works with you, but important to know if the different colours not means that swap can’t be done,,

The part # you mentioned "202 440 46 08",, for a complete Gear Harness.....

The part number was on the gear harness. Zayed the pins numbers you are on about are they on tcu? As pin numbers on shifter side only go upto pin 10.

So haven't you done this in your car?

That’s why i need my friends car here, to insure what Exactly need to do that swap in proper way,, i have a different wire colors, that need to be careFUL how to deal with that different colors,, as you know: Electrical things needs more focus to identify the correct swapping,,

Believe me: im interesting more than you, but that needs more research for the wiring diagram & little patience....

When done that swap, im soo sure there’re an ID wire contact to the ignition-lock cable,, i went to the dealer that day to identify that cable, they said the cable comes with attached wire for the gear ID position,, i doubt about that, cause i almost sure that ID screen should comes from the TCU during to the Tip, to recognizing the Exact position in the Cluster,, its not that problem,, cause you will definitely need that cable to lock the ignition after swap,,

I think that’s maybe why the replaced from "202 267 03 64 to 203 267 00 64", to separate them,, i should thank you to clear that,, as i remember i saw that wire attached to the cable it self.....

So will we need another wiring loom which carries this info? But zayed if this info is available on the can bus network do we really need wiring to the cluster?

So that cable connects to the ignition lock?

NO, the wire should not has any related with a Cluster ID, it should comes from the TCU during to the Tip shifter, and it could be from the CAN bus signal, not so sure about this...,,

I will go to the dealer tomorrow, to ask them about this subject,

I hope they are a people with ears & tongues....
