porsche panamera turbo vs C43K
So I thought I'd post this for the hell of it. So this guy took me on in a porsche panamera turbo, he took of before me and was 4 cars back as soon as he past me i took off (I was going about 75). I got 2 cars behind him and stayed with him but could not pass him. I think his boost kicked in before mine so thats why I couldn't pass him. I think if we took off at the same time it would of been a different story. lol guy continue to look over and me after it was over. Like he couldn't understand why he couldn't shake me. Does this sound right on how the whole boost thing works?

I think the loss can be attributed to him getting the jump on you as well as the Panamera is just an unreal BEAST!!!

Could be he also has an 'S' version with something like 50hp more than stock or else a more modified version. The Cayenne is a mighty heavy car but with 4x4 drive gets the power down good.
Good try

First off, it depends on the supercharger. A centrifugal supercharger is going to behave very similar to a turbocharger in terms of boost delivery. There are a lot of things that go into it, but obviously the supercharger spins at a certain speed based on the current RPM of the engine. So it spins faster if the engine is spinning faster. How that correlates into actual boost depends on how much air the engine is pumping at that point. But like anything, even a supercharged car has a power peak and if the Panamera got a jump and the cars are pretty closely matched, then that may be all it takes. Sounds like 450 rwhp is the magic number to really make a C43 a player with the big boy cars.

As far as I know superchargers reach full-boost pressure instantaneously as opposed to turbo's which need to spool before they reach full-boost pressure, hence the term "turbo lag".

Look at the torque curve vs. RPMs in modern turbo cars and you see max torque available from as little as 1250-2000ish RPM up to or near redline. Great stuff. In the real world, this makes a big difference on driveability because the driver can just lean on all the torque.

this is way less exciting... but a few months ago i was sparring with a trailblazer ss and my stock c43 for miles.. I'd take her and then she'd take me.. basically if either of us had the jump (btw this is on the highway) or a rolling advantage the other couldnt catch up. Of course her car was a piece of sh_t in the twisties so i would pull there.. When i got home i looked it up and we had nearly identical power/weight even though she was pushing more power her ride was heavy. I love it when opponents are just in it for fun.. can never figure out why people get so angry about messing around like that.. anyway your ride and the porsche must be fairly evenly matched in the power/weight department. I havent looked it up but I would guess the porsche weighs a good 5-600 lbs more.
