M113 questions for the ultimate Ba$tard Child

Hello everyone,

While I don't own a C43 but I found that many of my searches lead me to this group. You all seem to play with your cars more than the other groups. I have a 2004 Crossfire that I put a CL500 engine in two years ago. The engine is bone stock but in a 3100lb car and using the original V6 version of the 722.6 trans that has lower gearing along with the 3.27 rear gears. Too bad MB didn't use this gearing with the V8's. the car runs extreamly well but could use a little more on the top end. Before you all say I should have used a different motor, keep in mind that when I did this no one knew if it could be done, so it didn't make sense paying a ton of money for other engines. My engine came out of car that was totaled almost as soon as it left the dealership.

What I would like to do is increase effeciency by:

exhuast: headers (ordered), all 4 Cat delete with O2 simulators, true duals into a two in two out muffler.

Intake: Needswings dual CAI with E430 engine cover. This CAI has proven to make the most HP on SRT/32 engines compared to other CAI's and they make it for n/a engines as well.

Cams: 55n/a? C43? or really expensive ones?

Compression: bump to 11:1 from 10:1 not sure if this is feasable, but I have been looking at the combustion chamber pictures of C43 and 430 and 500 and it looks like the 43/430 has a little more material between the spark plugs and the exhaust valve. Smaller chamber would get me there. I have read on there that the same casting is used in the 43/430/500/55 range but I have only been able to verify in EPC net, that this is true of the 500/55 engine code designation E50/E55. It would reason that the C43 had to have smaller combustion chambers or more piston crown to have the same 10:1 compression as the 500 engine. Anyone ever cc C43 heads?

I have also looked at the the C43 and tried to figure out how it makes it power over a 430 and compared to a 500 and have come to the conclusion that it is either cams or magic. Nothing else makes sense.

And when it is done A Eurocharged Tune. Are there any other cost effective ways to wake up these motors just a bit? If I end up wanting a lot more, I will either get the Atwood European S/C kit which puts 425 to the wheels or build my own turbo set up.

Btw, the V8 Crossfire conversion would have been much tougher if MB hadn't produced the C43. The extra parts to make it work included C43 exhaust manifolds, fan, fan clutch and fan shroud.

Comparison between 430 and C43 engines: http://www.marcusfitzhugh.com/CLK/DIY/c43clk430.html
Cams: unfortunately nobody seems to know the specs for the 43 cams and I hav'nt found anything either http://www.marcusfitzhugh.com/CLK/DIY/camspecs.html

Thanks for the link. I have sent Marcus a PM. He has to great info which is also very enlightning. There is some holes still to be filled. I am interested in the cc volume of the combstion chambers of 43/430 vs 500/55n/a. I hope to help get this info and contribute to his site.
