C36 instument cluster / gauges not working after Battery change???

Hi, hope someone might be able to help.
Changed dead Battery from my 96 C36 after car sitting in the garage for 6 month. Since then the instrument cluster is not working "sometimes", resp. if it's not working you can turn off and start again and then it works.
All gauges are dead and esp. the fuel gauge is acting wired, not working but still kind of shaking.
Anyone, any idea?
thanks

Loose wire or plug perhaps or damaged harness? Are you sure the battery is in good shape?

Thanks! checked wiring and plugs, not the root cause!
Battery is brand new, had to buy new - the old one was dead after car sitting in garage for 6 month.

Any recommendations for interface that nicely works with the OBD for '96 C36?

See if you can check the battery voltage, maybe you got a slightly faulty battery. I had those exact symptons with a battery. You could try trickle charging your battery for a few hours then start it and see if OK.

Oh boy this sucks, if the battery was dead for 6months your ecu will be full with fault codes. you need to get it checked by the dealer with star diagnose. Before I put my car in the garage for winter storage I called the dealer if it was a problem if would be a problem to store it and just leave the battery in it. He tolled me to buy another battery to switch it every two moths so the car wouldn't get without electricity this would leed to fault codes.

If i'm worng, the dealer told me wrong
