5 or 8 mm Spacer will cause bad vibration when driving because you will loose centering. You need to use spacers with double centering (10mm or more).

Even with a spacer like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/270759655907...ht_2233wt_1398 (talking about the shape, not the size)? Because that's what I run in the front and it is very smooth.

The centering is fixed on the wheel hub of the axle. To have another centering on the spacer itself, the spacer must be wider than the centering of the hub (around 10mm). If using spacers without double centering you should use not more than 3 or 4 mm. The hub centering is around 10mm but only about 6-7mm of it is cylindric.
Another option is spacers with centering at the outside of the spacer (used for some special wheels).
