the quest for power.

Hey guys, I have a 190e with a c36 motor swap.

Copied from my post on 190rev.

Hey guys, i'm looking to do some small stuff to the wald for performance. I put it here because I feel like its more for c36 stuff as opposed to 190e stuff.
Basically, I've found that Remus, supersprint, and kleemann made headers for the c36, but I can't seem to find any info on them. Any input on headers would be appreciated. the car already has a lorinser catback exhaust.

Also i'm looking for info on a possible intake. Did any respectable companies ever make an intake for the c36? I know for a fact that the wald has the crossover from an e320, not the c36 one. however i cannot fit a c36 c/o pipe under the 190e hood.
it did however, used to have this one. idk what it is from or if it would help at all.

I know there isn't much of an aftermarket, but anything you guys can think of would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Zach, glad to see you on here.

C36 performance parts are harder to come by than the C43. Gruppe (spelling?) makes an intake (expensive!) and there are some c/o pipes out there but are not common in the marketplace.

LAMF (aka AMGC I believe---forget which he goes by on here) would be the better person to ask, as his C36 is decked out.

The Kleemann site won't have anything for the C36 due to its age. You're best off contacting them directly or your local Kleemann-authorized dealer.

I believe Gruppe M made a CF intake for the C36 but it is $$$$$$$$$$$$, Kleemann headers will add power but be prepared for ugly welds.

I think the OBX headers were prone to cracking but I am not sure if they made them for the c36.

Yeah OBX headers are no good. Don't think they made them for the C36. Remus headers are impossible to find. Best bet is with Kleemann or Supersprint.

ill try to track a set down. what would price range on these be? im not looking to drop more than 1500 on headers as i just bought a set of $1000 borbet type A's for my other 190 haha.
also, would headers (if they made them) for any m104 car work?

His C36 was decked out. It's gone now, but he has some of the stuff (mainly the Gruppe M) on one of his 190s

He sold it? That sucks. That was one of the finest C36s I've ever seen.

Edit: I'd assume any M104 header would work. And unfortunately, expect to pay over $1k new for headers. Best off trying to find used (even that is a chore).

Naw. Something happened and the insurance claimed it as a loss. He was able to work something out so he could get some parts off it to sell, but they kept the meat of the car

That's basically the stock, c280 M104 c/o. I somehow was stuck with that and a "normal" air box too on my C36. The AMG boxes have a second inlet below the box, kind of around the foglight area. I have been looking for a "36" crossover for almost 2 years and to no avail. It's either $600+ at the dealer, or a custom pipe. If I were you, I'd go the custom method and fab up a larger crossover and get the crankcase vents out of the intake while you're at it. Me and 1 or 2 other people had this idea, but no one has any plans yet.

i believe its a 3.2 valve cover and crossover pipe.

190E 3.0 w/C36 swap pending + C36 AMG
Looking at pics of the C37RS carlsson engine, most gains look like they would be achieved on the intake side. ITB's and aftermarket management. Dont know the specs of the carlsson engine but it definitely doesnt have elaborate equal length headers, just standard C36 ones and it makes 247kw is it? Anyway food for thought, maybe look at that side of things before going exhaust. Gruppe M intake looks good but i doubt it does anything more than what the factory airbox does.

Congrats. That certainly looks like a nice and clean conversion. Regarding headers, why don't you shoot a query to the factory in Italy http://www.supersprint.com/ They may have something still available not in the catalogue but hidden in the back of a warehouse. Who knows.....

Zach- the C36 crossover will/would clear your hood with the correct valve cover. The 3.6 crossover only works with the later e320 or C280 m104 valve cover.
