Just got my C43!

Hey everyone,
I had been posting and asking questions the past few weeks in anticipation of getting my C43. Yesterday i flew down to texas to meet with the owner, a final inspection, then i bought it and drove it home! 1,100 miles from texas to michigan.

its a 1999 black, with 64,500 miles (when i bought it).

the only problem areas with it were:
- the adjustment switch for the passenger seat needs to be replaced, all adjustments work except bringing the seat back forward.
- front bumper has a fair amount of stone chips esp at the bottom
- clearcoat on the wheels has started to peel or chip or whatever pretty badly around the lip of 3 of the 4 wheels (plan to get new wheels anyways)
- cd changer was gone (already ordered a new cd player)

my first impressions after having it for 2 days and driving it over a thousand miles:
- looks so much better in person, in photos the fender well gap looks worse
- the rear bumper/trunk area is really flat and plain, looks great in a side view but IMO its the least attractive view of the car (still nice though!)
- power is so smooth when on the freeway!
- handles pretty darn good, i heard about excess body roll with stock suspension, but i took a few exit ramps at speed and the thing felt really solid!
- im so impressed with the single wiper blade! haha, honestly, the articulation on that thing really impressed me
- the leather interior is nice, i have a saturn aura with leather interior as a daily driver and its like plastic, cannot compare to the mercedes.
- the glove box and center console storage areas are pretty small
- love how easy it is to adjust the clock, i have no idea why other cars make it tricky
-criuse control lever has great function (up/down and forward/back, no buttons or switches), used it a ton on the long drive
- the exhaust does sound awesome, would like it a tad louder, i plan to get rid of the 2nd cat and resonator and keep the AMG muffler.

lots of other impressions but didnt want this to get too long!

so happy i now have the car will post pics in a few days.

Congrats on your new purchase and ownership of a C43. I purchased mine without ever driving one, just as I have done with every car that I've ever owned. I've owned some pretty nice cars of which included a '95 Corvette ZR-1, '93 Corvette 40th Roadster, '87 Buick Grand National, 1968 Charger Hemi R/T, '68 Dart GTS and an '02 Porsche Boxster S. I can honestly say that the C43 ranks up there just behind the Charger and Dart as in my opinion, nothing compares to the old muscle cars. For practicality it ranks #1 as there is nothing that the C43 lacks. It is a great machine that possesses that small block V8 growl.

Cheers

nkctb7,
you have good taste in vehicles
the C4 ZR1 (also Gran Sport) as well as the Grand national are a couple of my favorite cars that i would love to own some day!

Im definitely loving the C43, the fact that its unique and special (also limited) is what i love about it.

my previous 2 cars were commonplace but i made them unique with mods, but its not the same as the C43.
