98 c43 diy air intake/filter idea

Hello--
was thinking of making my own lil intage for my c43 but wanted to see what you guys thought first:
My plan is to replace the intake tubes running from the airbox to front grill with aluminunum intercooler pipe, coupling from the airbox with silicone couplers and clamps, run the tubing to the current flange intake location at the front grill, then clamp on cone-style filters at the ends and wedge them in there, and delete the large main filter in the airbox.
will that make the air swirl around too much in the airbox or actually end up restricting?
alternatively I can keep the large k&n in the airbox and just end with a bigger flange at the two grill intake locations, tryring to just get a more sealed system.....
