Thanks! By any chance do you have part numbers for the USA version?
If there's 2 kinds it won't matter I just want to see how much they cost.

Wow. Google search shows this part to be $400.00 to $525.00.
Is this correct, euro version costs $52.00?? Can I just install the euro version on my c43?

It could be to put the Euro Version, instead of U.S version, but honestly Im not that sure about that.....!!,, also didn’t hear someone does....,

Yes sure, code: "P0307", refers to Cy:# "7", you may have a bad (Plug/Plug wire/Coil)....?!?!?

Thanks zayed!

I found the canister and next to it was I guess some kind of shut of valve? I took it apart and there was a foam filter which was very dirty. I washed it and install it back. I'm hoping this will cure the problem having where I can't put gas in my car. Every time I press the gas nozzle it stops, press again and it stops and so on. I have to take off the hose in front if the purge valve to release the vapor pressure. Than able to put gas in my tank.

I will check today to see if cleaning that filter worked.

speed, I've been having this very same issue and have always wondered what the culprit was. Not necessarily a problem, just annoying.

Anyhow, please post your findings when you have them and maybe a pic or two of where, exactly, this canister is located? Thanks.

Interesting... Back with my c36 (this has never really been a problem on the 43) I had to figit with certain pumps a lot. I often had to twist the pump so it was sideways for the gas to flow, or pull the nozzle out a little bit otherwise it would shut off. Never thought much of it, just accepted it as a quirk.

After I cleaned the foam filter I'm now able to put in gas without the gas nozzle popping.
I can't believe this made such a huge difference but it did.

Here's where to find it and what to do to clean it.

It's in the driver side rear quarter panel.
Take of the tire.
To your right there are some plastic bolts you need to remove.
This will allow you to remove the plastic panel.
Now you will see the charcoal canister.
Next to it on the left side you will see this round white plastic "cup" looking thing.
It has a rubber piece that detaches from the metal holding it.
Remove it, you also have to disconnect the electric wire attached to it.
I believe there was also some tape of some sort holding it in place but not sure now.
Either way its an easy removal. Now you will see four clips you must pull apart and the top comes off
This cup looking thing, Inside you will see the sponge filter.
Remove it and clean it out well and put back.

You can use some soap or k&n air filter cleaner or other...
Rinse well and allow to dry, I just rinsed it really good and put it back.

Hope this helps.

Just clean the filter and replace? Other than being able to fill your car without the nozzle shutting off does this make a difference in driveability?

Yeah clean and replace nothing to it. I did not notice any other differences in drive ability or performance. Unlike zayed he said his car woke up with performance. He replaced the canister though. I would like to do this but the price is like 450.00 to 500.00 bucks.

Anyone know where I can buy the charcoal inside those canisters?

Problem is back! Can't put gas without the nozzle stopping every 3 seconds.
What's worse now is that the gas seems to stay on top and wants to flood over??

It's as if the tube/hose is clogged 12 inches from the gas hole.
Does that make sense, how can it have gotten clogged?
All I know is that the gas nozzle leaves gas up on top which some gas flooded over to my quarter panel.

Any ideas what's causing this?

Agreed,,

Mostly; Vent system causes that,,

1) Purge valve not working properly

2) Cracked or small holes or clogged or some dirties in the hoses goes & back from the Purge valve

3) Shut-off valve in the "Charcoal Filter" not working or clogged

4) The breath line in the "Fuel Filter" has some dirties or clogged

ZAYED,,

ZAYED,,
Bringing this back since I'm having more and more issues filling my gas tank . Damn thing keeps clicking off more and more as I try to fill her up!

1 - where is this, "purge valve" of which you speak?
2 - where is this, "shut off valve", also of which you speak?
3 - could the fuel expansion tank (located on the passenger side) be the culprit?

Help me get back to happy motoring!

1) Purge valve, located front of the ABS/ESP pump

Activated Charcoal Filter-purge-valve.jpg

2) Shut-off valve, located in the top of the charcoal filter it self(round valve)

Activated Charcoal Filter-shut-valve.jpg

3) Fuel expansion tank, located in rear wheel house passenger side, could be clogged(much sandy carbon dust)

I finally got the car fixed. It now takes gas very fast. For me it was the purge valve which is on the drivers side rear wheel. I found a used one for $65.00 on eBay. Look for MERCEDES PURGE VALVE and make sure it looks like the one on ur car. Btw, I first changed the charcoal canister with a brand new one and it did NOT fix the issue. The purge valve did fix it.

Speed, how did you determine it was the purge valve? Thanks for posting your findings, it should save a guy like me potential big $$$ on a new charcoal canister and/or filter!

Zayed, thanks for posting those pics and part #'s!

ZAYED,,
Thanks again, Zayed. First thing I'm going to try is replacing the purge valve. Autohaus says this is the right part.

I had the same problem with my purge valve, although I had the opposite. It was stuck in the open position so I couldn't make any vacuums during the leak down test. I simply took it it and tried blowing air through it. When there is no current applied to it the valve should be in the open position. When power applied it should be closed. So if you remove your valve, blow air into it without applying current and it won't allow you to push air through it that means its stuck. Take it apart, clean it maybe lube it up and reassemble.

I hate sounding like a newb, but where is the purge valve located with regards to the abs unit?
