And just like that, no more C43.
Spent almost 15 years dreaming of owning one. Had her for one year.
Thanks to someone changing lanes in front of me without looking, my C43 has been reduced to this.
I'm still so absolutely furious about it I could punch something.
Car went up on 2 wheels and nearly rolled.
Everyone is fine, though.

My hope is to have the car back, somehow. But she's so old with so many miles, I'm very doubtful it will be an option.
Bumper, metal bumper support beam, headlight, fender, steering/suspension, and perhaps that very pricey and hard-to-find 2piece aero. With alot of luck, I'll be able to have her going again.

If salvage cost is low you could always buy it back and either part or restore it as deals on parts comes along. Real shame about your ride. Hopefully they come back with a fair number on value.

Yeah, tis a real shame indeed. We're drying up the finite supply of C43's in the world. Despite having 265k miles it was still putting down performance numbers better than MB official numbers when-new (but those numbers were conservative, I think)

So sorry to hear, I always loved C43s. I've been there with a low mile Talon TSi AWD when some douche ran a red light. Things will pan out, although it stings for a while.

I'm really, REALLY praying the salvage price isn't astronomical. I'm getting credible info that they'll seriously rip me a new one on the salvage cost. I could do all the repairs myself if I had the parts. And I am not a snob. If it means saving my C43 I'll just get a stock w202 bumper for the time being.

When a deer decided to commit suicide on the front of my 2002 bmw 540i6 they wanted 3,700 bucks to buy it back. I told the lady that just parts alone to repair it would be well over that, double that if you charge labor. And thats a lot of money for an almost 10 year old car (at the time) with over 120k miles. But they wouldn't budge so I let them pick her up. I hope your company is more reasonable. They said that they based the price off of historical auction prices.

Welp. They are offering 4700 and wanting to sell the car back for 3k. Not enough to get another c43 but only 1700 to work with on repairs myself. I'm pretty sure I can fix it for that but will have to use some cheap parts like a c230 bumper from the pull a part.

WHAT!!! I totaled my 1999 Honda Accord with 175,000 miles on it last November and they gave me $5,500
How is a C43 worth less

Ohhh come on.. It's got to be worth more than 4,700! Can you contest that? And only 1,700 dollars difference for buy back?! Which insurance company? I'd pull some comps of other c43's that have sold and shoot them an email. They gave me 10,500 for the 540 and 3,700 for buy back. Seems like they are shorting you. Hopefully something can be done.

Well, I went to the other driver's insurance company and got a number slightly better. I reviewed the car personally and looked underneath. There was no way it could be fixed for 1700. Even the higher number from the other company wasn't quite enough.
I was stuck.
I fought the other company as much as I could but they wouldn't budge.
So, I went back to my insurance company and fought tooth and nail over the value of the car. Long story short, they admitted they valued the car much lower than they should.
They're basically giving me $5600 minus deductible (which will later be covered by other company) to keep the car. NOW I CAN GET IT FIXED PROPERLY.

Nice man! Glad to hear that you fought for it and that you're going to fix it. It would have been sad to see it go. Looking forward to the updates!!

Figuring 500 deductible, 3k buy back.. Only gives you 2100 to fix your 43. Think you can do it for that? At least you got a little more out of them. Hopefully the other company comes through with the deductible reimbursement. Now you just got to find a rear ended 202 of the same color. Unless your set up for paint.. That's going to be a big ticket item.

They changed their salvage value as well as the car's actual value.
They're giving me $5600 and letting me keep the car. Much bigger budget to get proper repairs.
