Just got a 99 C43 AMG with 79k for a good price!

Found it on craigslist for $6,500. By luck i responded only hours after he listed the car. I went to see it immediately and put a down payment sight on seen. The owner took it to the dealer and they offered him $1,500 for it so thats why he was asking $6,500 for it. I sold my 190e sportline and just paid the difference of what i needed to get the C43.

I agree as that is ridiculous! When someone hit my front passenger side the insurance company let me purchase all new genuine parts which included a front bumper cover, face bar, fender and a pair of Xenon housings. I stripped the car to have the entire car repainted and recently reassembled it. Total cost for parts and labor was $12,180 CAD. I came within $240.00 of having it written off and they had my car valued at just under 17K due to the condition and low mileage of 149K Kms. at the time. Very fortunate as I did not want the car branded.

I lucked out with my purchase as well. I paid 8K CAD for my one owner C43 that had 120K Kms. The original owner passed on and his son inherited the car. He had no use for it so he donated it to a charity of the disease that his father suffered from. The CEO advertised it on Cl and I viewed it the following morning. She said that if I saved her from having to auction it the following weekend, it was mine for 8K. I immediately said SOLD!

I agree! I had not checked Cl for quite sometime as I was happy with my Porsche. Something prompted me to check one evening and I literally responded to the ad 1 minute after it was posted. The C43 was the car that I was searching for for a very long time and to find one that was a one owner with extremely low Kms. was very fortunate.

Lol, everyone loves a great deal but, you can't really put a price on something that you truly want! I can honestly say that my C43 surpassed my '95 ZR-1 as the second most fun car that I have ever owned. My former '68 Charger R/T is still #1 but, it was not a practical daily driver.

I paid $4400 USD for My 99 C43 with 240k miles on it, don't regret it one bit. Absolutely head over heels in love with the car! Plus, I kinda feel like I'm rescuing it from the perils of junkyard/crusher by keeping it on the road. I love the W202 and the AMG W202's so much, I'm very biased.
You had a 68 Charger R/T!?!?!? I'm a huge Mopar fan! I would have LOVED to have seen it! Old man near me has a 68 R/T with Scat Pack. Mmmmm...
Anyway, back to the topic!

I'll say that again.

I've always loved the C43 ever since I first read about it in Car and Driver magazine. It is a clean, mean and rare vehicle that maintains that classic Mercedes look. The last true example of German quality and performance. Not to offend anyone but, the AMG's of today have lost that quality and smoothness that set AMG's apart from any other car. It is great to see so many followers/owners of the classic AMG's. From what I can see, there are many appreciative owners that are saving these rare cars from ending up obsolete.

just got some bosch amber corners put on from the UK and i found a brand new in box grill for $100 on craigslist for a w210. Cut off the fat from the grill and made it fit into the w202 frame and there you have it! OEM grill
i have some All red euro tails coming soon and decided to order fresh C43/AMG badges for the trunk since the previous owner decided to take them off

You now need some clear glass fogs and the front will be perfect
I'm starting to think that the Star on the hood looks better than the flat badge. After having swapped the Star for a flat badge, I may go back to the Star, or dig out my AMG flat badge.
So, what do you guys think?

funny you say that because the flat badge was the one thing that took me two weeks to decide. it seems the only option are aftermarket and i try to do as much oem as possible. i just purchased a flat badge last night after weeks of digging for every single option. im def not selling my star just because i have a feeling ill go back & forth between the two.

I'm pretty certain that you purchased the tails from ebay. I made him an offer of $200.00 for them two years ago and he wouldn't budge. The only problem is if something was to happen to one of them, they are irreplaceable. That was my bargaining chip in my offer. I had the all black lenses at one time but went with the Euro look. There are many members that have used the translucent red modelling paint and a clear coat to attain the all red appearance and it looked professionally done. Your ride is really coming together nicely!
