ignorant newbie q's/hello
this is my first post, so i thought i'd introduce my self. my name is greg, 21, student from canada. i'm planning on buying either a c36 or c43 sometime in the next year and i have some really ignorant questions that someone may be able to help me with.
1)is there a difference in body style between the 36 and 43?
2)I really want those two tone black and white seats. do they only come on certain models? like only on select 43s?
3)what's better - 36 or 43? 43s are quite a bit more money aren't they? are they also quite a bit faster?more fun to drive?
4)what cars would you compare these to speedwise? are they more of a high speed cruiser or can they beat some big dogs off the line too?
5)are there any common problems i should be aware of?
6)are parts extremely $$$$? is insurance really bad?
any insight on these babies is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
p.s. some of your cars are very impressive!
hope you do get one sometime soon, you'll enjoy it for many years
to answer some of your questions
1). they have different body kit, c43 is rounder kinda like the sl sport, slk sport, clk sport of same type of years 98-00 or so; 36 is more straight different curves as you can tell i'm sure in pictures. besides engine being totally different, interior is same, except different cluster face, different shift knob, and seats are better from what i seen in c43 (specially the 2 tone which i love). some c43's have orthopedic seats adjustments on the side for more back support; another difference in c43's is that all have 5 sp auto where 95, 96 c36 has 4 sp auto, 97 has 5 sp auto, and the 20 rare elusive c43's have touchshift (tiptronic 5sp auto).
2. only c43 it was an option when ordered
3. depends on your liking, some people prefer one over the other for many reasons, either way you can't go wrong
4. i always and still get the feel of it being an awesome autobahn car, off line they are still quick, but that's not their best asset
5. if you do a search or just go under this thread one or 2 pages back, there's couple threads about common problems, also check out www.club202.com for great info as well and a little more active
6. insurance depends on who's driving it and on your record, but after all it's a 4 door automatic
so has to be less than typical sports 2 doors; parts, it is an MB so they are more expensive but quality is better toohope this helps
regards
