Temperature gauge issue

Hey everyone, I've been driving my 95 C36 AMG now for two days. While driving a notice that my temperature gauge will go all the way up to 120 and then drop back to 80 that in the middle to normal position. I know the car isn't running hot and their isn't any coolant leaks. I'm thinking maybe its a thermostat problem.

What do you guys think?

Check the harness & a plug that attached to the Temp. sensor indicator, if it OK,

then you may have a bad Temp. indicator, #: "011 542 51 17"....!
