What type of muffler do you use?

I am currently trying to decide if I should leave my exhaust system the way it is. I have a straight pipe underneath the car. The pipe ends about midway (near the fuel tank) so it sounds a lot louder. I like the sound the straight pipe gives, but sound may be a little too much.

Does the stock muffler provide good sound? Would I be downgrading my car if I put it back on? Can I put the stock muffler back on and tweak it in any way to make it sound a little louder? I'm also wondering if this change would provide more horsepower and more fuel efficiency.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

So you're saying right now you have 4 cats, the resonator, but no muffler? Put the muffler back on and get rid of the res and second cats, then buy an Eisenmann if it's still to quiet for your taste

What about dual exhaust on the c43? If money were no obstacle what would you do for the exhaust system?

Relocate battery, cut out battery tray, modify spare wheel tub if necessary, do true dual the whole length with dual AMG mufflers or Dual Eisenmanns. Hell yeah.

So right now your exhaust Ends under the fuel tank?
Don't you worry the hot exhaust air might burn your fuel tank

use the amg muffler. look at some youtube videos of c43's with deleted resonator/y-pipe. in my opinion that is as loud as you should need on a mercedes.

i just bought this exhaust and will be taking off the vibrant muffler and installing my stock amg muffler. if you're interested in the vibrant muffler with dual tip, pm me. it will be for sale. vibrant muffler is louder than stock.

that would be an incredible amount of work and money, for no performance gain and in my opinion would look worse and incorrect.
there is a cutout in the c43 bumper for the exhaust. and in this vintage of euro cars, all there was was single exhaust with dual tip. look at all the bmw's of the same period, w210 e55, etc. it is period correct and looks the way it's supposed to.
