Oil Consumption

So black beauty was going through a quart of oil every 1000 miles. I run her down to the stealership and they wanted 134 for the oil change and 40ish for the oil consumption test and they wanted it upfront. So after plunking my 200 on the counter, the advisor warns me that a quart for 1000 miles is normal in these cars. I turned around and let him know that there's no way this case is burning mobil 1 syn and I've never owned a car that went through a quart in 1000 miles.

After another 1k mikes, the oil light is back on and I pop the his for a visual inspection. Sure enough there's a leak in the front, oil all over the fan, belts etc.

Advise the advisor that I'm right again and please fix. So everything is right again. Feels good.

Parts replaced:
Oil cooler, 3 seal ring, gasket, v belt, gadget, oil and anti freeze.

Luckily i didn't have to. I still have a month or two left on the warranty. They are also giving me a free oil change to make up for charging me for the first. So eh, but i feel like they should have found the leak the first time without me having to pay and come back. But eh so's life sometimes.

extremely common oil leak on all M112 and M113 powered cars. It's the seals in the oil cooler and the oil test port at front of the engine. Good that they replaced the whole cooler just to be safe. It's aluminum and over the years can sort of warp so that the 2 halves don't quite seal up right again, no matter how many times you put a new gasket between them.

Mine had these leaks, PLUS threads from a shredded v-belt that wrapped around the base of the crank pulley and shoved the crank shaft seal back into the engine resulting in a MASSIVE oil leak. That was fun.
