Engine noise?
Hi Guys,
I just had my coolant flushed and replaced my reservoir cap because it was in bad shape, thanks to the members who pointed me in the right direction. The mechanic was asking about a sound coming from the engine. I have always had the typical ticking sound which seems to be normal, but it seems to have developed a different sound. I said to him maybe the valve lifters and he agreed it could be. The car drives great, no issues. I had an oil change about 2k miles ago and it does seem like it started after this service. I cannot be 100% sure though.
Have any of you experienced this sound? Thanks.

Im dealing with exactly the same problem. Im planing to pull my valve cover today and inspect so hopefully ill have some info...
Ive heard it could be anything. Exhaust leak, bad sparkplugs, egr valve, sticky or loose lifter...

Yes please let me know what you find, he also did a pressure check on my car and said all was good.

Sorry bro i havent had a chance to do anything. My wifes car threw a check engine light today so i had to figure that out since wer taking it on a road trip tomo.
I will probably tackle the valve cover in the next few days or so...

It's nothing you can see. If it sounds like possible lifters, it is likely the lifters. Very common on these motors. Not hurting anything other than annoying you.
But I agree, it's impossible to truly diagnose a sound over the internet. If it's a ticking from the top end though, 10:1 it's a lifter.
