ECU Tuning- checking in
Haven't been spending much time on car forums recently.
My supercharged 5 litre is running well and I finally got my stereo all back in (old school Image Dynamics stuff including the 31 bad EQs and crossover rack mount style for those who don't know).
I'm curious though- is there any news on the tuning front? I'd love to be able to run a real custom tune rather than boosting fuel pressure etc. as I do now, if for no other reason to improve fuel mileage! (although, I'm guessing I'm also leaving 30-50hp on the table).
thanks!

What did you look into last time?
Guys in the 211 forum are moving to turbo setups, so guys like Eurocharged, I think OE and others are doing custom dyno tunes with the stock ECUs. I'm sure getting a dyno tune wouldn't be a problem for you, except for location.

I've been hoping for new software to become available such that I could convince my friends who tune here to pick it up- although I see that as very unlikely.
Last I looked into it there were people who could tune the ECU by mail, but obviously that isn't going to work well for my car. And there were guys in Chicago who had the software to tune the ECU but didn't even have their own dyno. I did not get a good feeling from talking to them on the phone. With paying for dyno time and their time I would have likely spent $1500ish as well.
Perhaps I should read up on the 211 forum, I am not sure when I'll have time.

Regarding mail order tunes, you could always get a wideband o2 in your car and relay this information to your tuner. They can even datalog. This better than dyno tuning anyway because a dyno does not put real world load on your car and they are usually only tuning your WOT then also. You could send a whole datalog file to your tuner and that would be better than anything else. Have them make an adjustment, see where you're at, repeat.
I have done this with other cars and it works very well. I have a LM1 innovate sitting around, have to add a bung into my c class and see where I'm at.
Be advised though. If your car is a 98-99 it uses ME2.0 which is extremely limited in the tuning dept. compared to ME2.8 which started in 2000. If you get with a tuner, make sure to ask them about this and if they can even work with ME2.0 and what they can do, from what I've heard they are very very limited with what they can do. As far as I know the ME2.0 cars you need to use an fmu with boosted applications because the tuning software can't adjust enough parameters, I'm not an expert on the subject but that is what I have been told by the respected outfits.
Anything regarding a 211 will not apply to your car unless you have a 2000 model year. (rare)

You can get a remote cable from Eurocharged and then they can remote tune. However, I haven't heard of any changes in regards to better tuning for forced induction on our cars.

For the newer cars you can get a remote tuner, where you can change the tunes yourself. You have a program that can basically install/uninstall the tune, so you can switch them and I believe adjust them whenever you like. That's only for 2.8+ though

Yeah, I remember Jason(503C43 ////AMG), purchased that cable, but didn't mention if he able to use it or not...!

and this: https://mbworld.org/forums/5613747-post291.html
So yes he went ahead with the remote tune. Although it seems as though he had an issue. Hasn't been around to update on whether Jerry ended up fixing it or not. But knowing EC and how far Jason was able to get, and Shawn also had the remote tune, I'd say it's definitely doable. And silence it seems as though you can tell them what mods you have and they'll adjust the tune accordingly.

Yes- my car is currently tuned (and pretty well I might add) by me using a wideband on my dash, fuel pressure and a bit of MAF scaling. It was then checked/tweaked on the dyno.
You think they know the right tweaks for a mail order tune when I check the boxes regarding the modifications to my car? I have total, total distrust of that. I also have no interest in spending thousands going back and forth trying to dial things in.
I'm also aware of the me2.0 issues.
All of the above are why I shelved this previously, haven't worried about it for a couple years and now have come back to check in about it.

Also- not sure those links sound promising or not. I could speak to him over the phone I suppose. I did contact another vendor yesterday (who I'm assuming is not responding due to being unable to work with this vehicle).

Dear Silence,
do you have an HPS 1st GEN Supercharger Kit installed on your C43 AMG car?
I also bought one of this 1st GEN Kit (used), and I wanted it to install. The Supercharger is already in the car.
In the shipment was a Split Second PSC1-003 SF(SuperFine) Programmable Signal Calibrator included, but it has more cables as shown in the installation guide from HPS, and without any preinstalled parameters. I also bought the setup software (R4 Engine Management Software) from Split Second, but I would need the correct parameters for this signal calibrator unit for my car. (I contacted both the HPS and Split Second, but they haven't the parameters for my car.)
Have you this signal calibrator to? Can you send me the valid parameter-sets for it?
If not, how did you solve the extra fuel? Via ECU tuning?
It is necessary to replace other OEM parts of the engine (or others) to get the supercharger working correctly?
I would be very grateful for any help, because otherwise seems to fail mail supercharger installation
Regards,
Laszlo

Hi,
New to the car and the forum.
Are there any recommendations as to a tuning and suspension shop closer to me than EAS in Anaheim?
I get the car next week and have a long list of things to do and Mod!
Thanks,
FBS
