"Of the three, the AMG is the rarest and potentially the most fragile..."

What are they smokin? I assume this article was written recently? The sheer percentage of cars still on the road versus cars built shatters that old chestnut. I haven't seen a fair-condition E36 or Audi 4 anything from that era (let alone M3/S4) in years. Any how many of those BMW's have had to get a lifter/valve job or even an entirely new head?

seems like they are really harking on the fact that the AMG is prone to rust issues?
It definitely is the rarest though.

good read, no surprises for me but always love reading about the C43!

As a current owner of both a c43 and a E36 M3 , I can without a doubt say the merc is a far more solid and better built car. Bmw's were good when they were new but they don't age well, I have tons of money in my M3 which I'm selling, great car when they are fresh, but build quality is not on the c43's level.

Very happy to hear your first hand experience with both cars. And once again, welcome to C43 ownership! Very rewarding car to own/drive.

Rode with a friend in his 2003 325i that he's treated like a newborn since he bought it new. Every single part of the intior is heavily worn. Seats are all cracked, every single plastic panel is cracked. Paint wearing off the buttons on the dash. It's just sad. Plus, he just had to dump $2,500 into having the lifters replaced--and apparently that's normal for a BMW straight six engine!
