c43 steering noise
Needs some help, my steering makes a whining noise when i turn left. can't seem to figure out what the problem is. This is what i have done to try to fix the problem. changed the ball joints on the left and right side, cheated the power steering fluid. Still makes the same noise but it only does it when turning left.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also had the mercedes guys look at it when I had the ac condenser replaced. They could not find anything. PLEASE HELP drives me crazy, very annoying, loud and embarrassing.

Mine doesn't look at all like the one in the video. It's a rectangular reservoir with a black cap on top. Also apparently this maintenance tip is for older MB's up to 1995.

i've seen these round power steering metal filters on several webshops, but they don't fit our cars?
how would you put this in the tiny fluid box?

This filter for the old style metal round tank, don't see if necessary to put filter inside the tank...!

There is a screen filter inside the resevoir. You have to replace the resevoir to replace it, the whole resevoir is not that expensive. This can cause noises, I've seen the screens break away. If fluid is rushing around in your resevoir with the engine on, your screen is busted.
I can't say this is his noise. If the noise changes while he's revving it up, it's likely this or the pump. If it doesn't.... well it's impossible to diag a noise without hearing it. A sound clip would be helpful, record on phone, post to youtube.

I'm going to say it again, but this sounds like a bad wheel bearing... Not sure if you've replaced those already but if not you should check it out. Just my 0.02 cents

With the engine running for at least 2-3 mins take the P/S cap off and have a look at the fluid inside. If it appears to be swirling around rather than just sitting there then the baffle inside the tank if broken and you'll need to replace the tank. This will cause a lot of P/S pump whining that comes and goes. it's easy to check and cheap to fix. This is a good place to start before looking further.
