All those parts can be found at the junk yard for cheap!!, Help save a rare car and bite the bullet. What will you be able to buy with $2000 that is comparable? if you let it go I guarantee you will regret it later. It may take a little while to get it back on its feet but you can make it happen, you just have to get creative.

I plan on making a final decision on this by the end of tomorrow. I will have a talk with the guy at the auto body shop and try to decide if any of this can be worked on by myself.

Parts that I know I will need thus far:

hood
grille
front bumper
radiator support
fan clutch
unibody repair (high up hit above frame rails)
realignment of ignition
possible radiator replacement? (car was leaking after the incident)

I will find out more tomorrow.

My car is lower and I braked so I must have hit the car from underneath. It was a Honda Insight that I ran into.

If you decide to go ahead with the repair I can offer you an AC condenser that was from a 97 C36.

If you decide to fix it I have the front support bar that the nose clip attaches to as well as the factory corners. You can have them all for free if you cover the shipping cost from Blaine, WA, 98230. Anything I can do to help bring your cost down.

No worries at all, bro! I will take a look to see what else I have. My garage was broken into and many parts were stolen including my 17" aero's.

It's not much use, but I have a really poorly done duraflex C36 replica bumper you can have if you pay for shipping.

it's silver, too...

but anyway, looking at those pics I'd bet $1000 you're completely in the clear when it comes to bumper support and "frame" damage. That was a really high hit, and it didn't even push the radiator past the mechanical fan! you're fine!

also, you say it won't start. do you mean the key won't turn in the ignition? have you tried using another key? when my old keys both died, they would not turn in the ignition. I'd really want to know more about what they mean with "ignition is mis-aligned"

Hey everyone, good news. My auto body guy is going to help me put together a list of parts that I will need to make this repair happen. I'm hoping with hard work and some help from others that I will be a proud owner of a c43 once again.

That's very ambitious haha. How would someone save a bumper like that?

I love how everyone here is offering free parts! One of the many reasons why I love this board!

I don't have anything relevant to offer unfortunately, since I had to rebuild mine.

Well I spoke with my friend at the auto body shop and we started going over parts. He believes I will have to replace a ton of parts, parts that aren't necessarily visually damaged but are suspected.

The amount of money they are asking is ridiculous so I think I will sell. I don't know how to work on cars so I don't know how to tell the difference.

I'm thinking if I source some parts and work hard to keep costs down it would be still be around 6k in the end which I don't want to do. That is how much Dziner82 paid for a similar collision.

What are your thoughts about selling the car on ebay?

No offense to that body shop, but they are probably one of the highest priced in the area, they do a good job but charge a arm and a leg. If you like I can connect you with my buddy who has a body shop in Belmont and would probably charge you a third of that price or even less and source most of the parts used. Most everything aside from the bumper can be pulled from any stock w202. And they made a lot of regular 202 cars!

I got my $7k of parts for about $3k by sourcing myself. Just sayin'. My rebuild was $6.8k out the door (including rental cost for uhaul truck + trailer going 300 miles).

holy mother of christ, that guy is asking $1777 just to replace the front bumper, you are getting ripped every single way.

what on earth are their labor costs? $3,090 in labor? even at $100/hr labor that's 31 hours labor! Do they plan on standing around staring at it when it's done and calling that labor?

$870 for a hood!?!? this is exactly the kind of prices I would expect if you had crashed a 2014 CLS63!

Do what you think is best but those prices are outrageous. $270 for a grille. I was just at a dismantling yard the other day and i almost picked up a spare grille for $40 just because it was immaculate.

Message to everyone!!!! Do not take your old cars to these shops unless insurance is covering it all.
