Hold on for a w202. There are limited editions and rare color ones that pop up every once in a while. Designo edition would nice to own. Ive also seen a few 2000 c43s in the last few years.

Higher mileage, but lower price to reflect it:

ECT - thank you I saw this one last week it's only an hour away from me - I talked to the lady she will barely budge on price l- problem is she barely has any records and she is the third owner plus the car really isn't very clean. so I told her look I'll buy it I just need room to be able to clean it up she's not really having "yet"

Ps - yes I am pretty stuck on silver -I really want to find a silver with two tone ! Second resort will be white,

How does this sound? And anyone know what this trans clunk sound can be?

Current Mileage 198,000 (pasted from sellers reply)

"- 120.379 miles: replaced water pump/ tie rod assembly
- 130.720 miles : changed transmission filter kit/ oil filter/ front pads/ front rotors/ sensor
- 155.245 miles : replaced coolant hose from auxillary water pump to front engine
10/14 Alignement adjustment

He told me that all the maintenance work has been done at a european mechanic shop in San Jose by the same mechanic that knew the car. When hitting the accelarator to hard the transmission makes a noise, according to this mechanic, it's a $200 piece of rubber that doesn't necessarly need to be replaced. I wanted to get another diagnosis on that but never get the chance to."

Sounds fishy -

See if the seller agrees to a PPI. The dealer (I recommend the dealer if you don't have an independent you trust because you're basically telling them, "find everything wrong with this car" and they looooove that) will pinpoint the clunk and identify it and anything else wrong with the car for you. It's usually about $150-200 and a day out of your schedule but very well worth it. I had one done before I purchased mine and it definitely put my mind at ease about the purchase.

Have you looked at this one in Playa Del Rey: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...859387703.html not a Designo interior but it looks clean. I think the owner is on this forum too.

Edit: Here's the link from when he purchased the car - https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...r-c43-amg.html

Yep, its a great car but needs a body shop, rear door and 1/4 need to get pulled and sprayed =( front fender needs to be replaced if i want to be really picky.. It has a dent on the lip which can not be removed , headliner is sagging, needs a fuel pump, brakes and tires. I would have bought this by now if I didn't have to deal with body damaged. Im bummed.

I didn't realize it needed so much work. Seems a bit high in retrospect. The search continues!
