Im an MB tech at the Hilton Head, SC dealer about 2 hrs from Jacksonville, fl. I have a clean 1999 c43 w/175k with a 140k/55 engine swapped may be looking to part with. every seal gasket timing chain all replaced. no oil leaks, lowered on h&rs, 15% tint all around, 50% on entire front window, door handles color matched, 18in monos(have stock 17's too) second cat and res deleted. c55 bigger front calipers and rotors, all problematic parts replaced in transmission. serviced extensively, benzslo is right about these transmissions. I do a lot of trans work at my dealer and have seen only a couple .6's get replaced and that was due to lack of maintenance etc. electric connector, shift control module, trans conductor plate all new, trans control unit has never had fluid leak into it. crank sensor, mass air flow etc all new. new radiator, thermostat, water pump, coolant reservoir, new steering shock, ball joints, control arm bushings etc, pretty much everything new. probably tons of stuff im missing. ive put a lot of time and labor in this thing. and everything is done right. no warning lights at all, engine is strong. can do rolling burnouts in first, tires brake loose in 2nd. stomps trailblazer SS's lol. cruise control, a/c and heat, pneumatic, heated seats all work. nothing wrong with car, have driven every day for over 3 years and never had a problem. got it with 120k and completely stock. just thinking it might be time for a new project.

Seems like a good value, looks clean. Mileage is high, but sounds thoroughly maintained. How is the leather holding up? Anybody want to buy my white 43?

only issue with leather is driver seat. just a couple stress cracks in the leather under your right thigh. my upholstery repair people at my dealer said they can fix it and no one would no. just haven't done it yet.

well it may be for sale still when your looking. not saying im going to now. I don't need to sell it just tossing the idea around. about to go pick up a 01 lightning on Friday. 7k towards that lightning would make that thing stupid fast. then I can get my w211 e55 for my daily and have a fun toy too. just don't have room to be putting all these toys now. and ive pretty much got the c43 where I want and capped on what it can do. before I spend 10k on a supercharger for this car, id just sell it and get the e55k and put the 10k in that lol.

How true is this? Anyone own both? I keep thinking about getting an E55K... But I can't stop spending money on the C43-this was bought with the intent to swap the 5.4 in.

Is the 55 swap fast enough..enough to not get bored of? To be honest, I loved my E55 & it was great to drive, but I became bored of it & wanted more. The smaller platform with that motor seemed appealing. but the steering was better on the E55.

Which would be more fun as a DD- the 43/55 or the 55K/E63?

i love lightnings!! Most especially the supercharger whine!

Going back to the 43, how much would it cost to ship to Cali?

Ive driven a 55k on a few occasions and ive seen it in action plenty of times. The car is an absolute beast, no doubt about it.

I havent driven it enough to give you a full on comparison review but I havent even fully pushed my 5.4 swapped c43 yet.

I think at the end of the day the e55 is more of a beast but its heavier and bigger which automatically makes it more boring honestly. My friend who swapped my motor had a 55k for the longest time and his first comment when he first drove it was that it reminded him of his e55.

For me the surprise factor is enough to make the c43 a more cool choice. Trust me, with the swap I cant get enough of the car. It was fun enough to begin with but with the bigger motor its a whole different car. I know shes not running completely healthy either due to a very old maf sensor that ill be swapping soon.

I personally would not trade my car for a e55....no way. Not even straight trade

Thanks for the reply, maybe I just 55 my 43.. Sounds fun!

Are you the 3rd/4th owner?

Any service paperwork on the car? I know you're a tech but paperwork always helps with the sale.

How about more detailed pictures and more details about the car's brakes, coolant, differential ,etc.

i believe i am the 3rd owner. cant remember. I have stacks of receipts from my dealer parts department so yes I have service paperwork from when ive owned this car and since then everything you can think of has been done and dealer VMI. but obviously no labor receipts due to my own labor is free. every fluid has been changed multiple times. coolant serviced many times...i.e new water pump, radiator, coolant reservoir, thermostat. bought used but very good c55 calipers from pgauto.com. new front c55 brake rotors and pads, new rear rotors and pads...pads and rotors are less than 8 months old. differential serviced and has the new updated synthetic mb diff fluid. what else do you want to know. Like I said ive replaced almost every part on this part. every seal and gasket and timing chain twice...once on 43 motor and now again less than 2,000 miles ago when the 55 engine was swapped in. did the timing chain on the new engine as well. new timing chain tensioner, new engine mounts and trans mount, new shifter bushing, new center caps(if you want exact specifics). and can post more pics soon

ive worked on and driven a lot of modded 55k cars and let me tell you the 43/55 is fun but you can easily get 600hp out of a 55k car. sure it takes money but you can get more power for less with the 55k than our 43's. im still not sure if i am going to sell it. once i get the lightning tomorrow then ill probably park the 43/55 to start the custom twin turbo set up.

I would disagree about the statement on the e55k. Those cars are pretty badass, driven them since 03 and a handful modded out, in any case they are beasts. C43 5.4 is super fun and torquey, very nice drivers, but e55 is on a whole nother level.

7k for this guys c43 5.4 is a STEAL. Getting a Mercedes from a tech you can be pretty sure you're getting the cream of the crop.

i don't even trust anyone else enough to run my C43 against my other C43

edit: but the old butt dyno tells me my 99 is faster!

From a stand still, I would say the Lightning is faster. How do I know?... I had one before. That thing just pulls hard even when stock
