Edit to remove current style air box. Made it a little different and lighter.
I will update pictures soon.

Looking killer! Man, I really need one of these! If I hadn't just purchased those adjustable UCAs, I'd be first in line.

I will be ready to ship Wednesday for anyone that wants the max air box. $510.00 for the complete box shipped and with free K&N filters. Filters came with the box I bought to modify and they are in very good condition. So you can have it with the box all installed and ready to ship.

did you do any test drives after you modified the airbox?
how much was improved on vehicles performance after you fitted the airbox?

upper part of airbox is good when you close the hood?

I sure did, and the hood closes perfectly. I've had one for about a month. The car has better throttle response and picks up power as the RPM's get higher n higher. I love the way it performs. And if I take it easy I get better MPG than stock.

I started modifying my air box for myself, than I decided that this box is great why not sell them to others. I always wanted the Renntech air box but it was to expensive. So I did my own version and I love it!

Once you receive my Max Air Box and put it on your car. Anything else you do to your car, like install high flow cats or dual exhaust, headers etc...this box will
compliment that big time.

So far I have removed the two rear cats and resonator and installed a Y-pipe. Next will be true dual exhaust with high flow cats and a X-pipe.

For those that have done this already my air box will make your car perform even better. I can only imagine how good it would be to install my box on cars that people swapped the engine to a 5.5! My C43 runs so good with this air box that it was worth the work. Hope you guys give it a try, you won't regret it!

did you use bondo to smooth out the surface when you enlarged the rear part on airbox housing?
our cars produce massive heat, vibrations from engine and massive heat might screw up the plastic housing where you made it XXL higher in the rear.

did you use heat resistant color spray to give it a nice finnish?

My first air box I used fiber glass and that's all I will say. I do these way different from my first one now. Did you read some of my earlier posts? I mentioned that the air box is not as hot as the stock. Which I think it's because it has more space inside to run cooler or room enough not to keep heat. So my air box will last and last. If anything happens to it send it back. I will cover shipping both ways and fix it for free!

I've tried a lot of different paints and I have one I really like. And yes it's heat resistant. It's sprayed inside where I remove the square baffles and the whole air box itself.

Btw, if you guys send the front manifold cover. The plastic that has the AMG and Mercedes star. I will sand and spray that so it will perfectly match the air box. No charge.

I think with this kind of product we need to see some numbers.

Have you dynoed the car?

There's a thread here that a guy tested his stock air box to the Renntech. I had it in my first post but deleted since it was for a different car. Anyway he did do a dyno and got 8-10 Horses with the Renntech.

Mine is just as smooth but little bit taller and although I've never had a Renntech, I'm sure mine performs just as good. I'm in chicago so there's not that many places that dyno cars. At least I've never seen any. But I do know that my air box does add power and torque.
Before making this box I tried a bunch of different things to push air to the engine. Spent a lot of time cutting and tearing things up. This box is the best thing I did from everything I tried.

I wish someone with a good reputation here would buy one and test out and report. Than I will be selling these real fast.

In the mean time I'm just going to build one at a time and start selling on eBay.

Ignore the paint on my air box, I was testing a paint that wrinkles.
But notice the height difference from my box to the renntech.
Look at the top of the air boxes and the hood molding.
My box is much taller all the way around.

No problem at all. Everything fits just as it should. I lost my air tubes that's why I don't have them shown in the picture. I ordered them already, should be here this week.

Interested in seeing actual gains on paper, or at least a couple people attesting to the build quality and seat of the pants feel, before I'd be willing to pull the trigger on a $500 garage built performance part.

If you send your air box after you receive mine it will come out to $410.00. Still a good amount but it's a whole lot cheaper than $15-1800 from others. The only thing you won't get with mine is the carbon fiber. Mine is still light and I'm sure it performs just as good or even better than the others.

Hey CLKRob,
I just placed an order for one & will be willing to give some feedback once I get some decent seat time behind one of these.
