You guys are funny but you read my mind. It's one thing to do the elbow on your own but to raise the air box is another thing. Not saying you can't but it's not as easy as you may think. If you do try it make sure to buy a spare to replace the one you will cut up.
If you rather buy one from me just let me know. I'm going to start modding again next month.

I have 3 of those I bought to modify. If I raise the back part about 2 inches will your hood close? If no than I will raise it 1 1/2.
Email me if you are seriously wanting to get one. I will give you the details. Thanks. geo3617(@)gmail.com

I'm interested in this and depending on price, possibly 2 kits. Do you mind inboxing me a price for the complete setup?
You have to remove the baffles from the air box. But that will help very little. For noise and power you have to raise the air box at least 2 inches. Also port the maf to the elbow opening for smoother air flow.
Port the maf bottom part only. Go as thin as you can without burning through the plastic. These mods will keep a smile while driving your car.
If you want to have even more power you must do what I did for my car. Port both openings of the throttle body. Than port the intake manifold. Remove a lot of the aluminum from the openings. Make the opening bigger. I also flared the top portions of the intake. Many hours and lots of patience needed. BUT, at the end you will floor the pedal and you WILL say HOLY SMOKES!!!! VERY much worth the work and effort. Oh, and you MUST port the intake opening to the throttle body opening. That alone is a job but it has to be done. Again, the results are crazy good. Any other c43 will not keep up with you. And if you have the 5.4 upgrade the same will be true with my mods on that engine.
I will be putting together a complete I mean complete package for the m113 engine. This will contain modded air box, Maf, elbow, throttle body, and intake manifold. All parts will be included, including intake gaskets. And the throttle body will come Installed to the intake manifold because the throttle body to intake gasket will now be to small. I make a custom gasket for the bigger openings. Guys with funds only apply, it won't be cheap. But it will be a fair price.

This weekend I will try to remove the silver screen in the maf housing, because next week, I have to drive the car on highway for about 6 hours, across italy.

I've never had the air box off my car yet, but I will be changing the spark plugs shortly.
I am wondering if the baffles and restrictions are there for intake noise reasons? Maybe the trade off between performance and sound was enough to make them do that.
I have a 2007 CLK550, do your mods apply to that model?

If your air box is like the one in post #58 than yes. If it's not send me a link showing the air box and I will let you know.
