removing transmission flange nut
So my 5.4 swap is going pretty well despite me not having much time to work on it. Ive got the new engine almost ready to go in, with a much newer 722.6 transmission to go with it. The problem is the new trans has the 4-bolt flange, and the prop shaft is set up to bolt to the 3-bolt flange. I'm trying to remove the 4 bolt from the new trans so I can put a 3 bolt on, but the nut is basically crimped into a groove on the output shaft in addition to torqued down.
Do any of you guys have any tips on how to get that nut out of there? If I can do that, then I only have around 8 more hours (I work slowly) of work before I can fire up the 5.4

Pics?
When you say crimped, what part of the nut? Like an axle nut?
IF it's what i'm picturing in my mind, you can use a small punch or chisel to lift the part that's pressed into the keyway in the shaft out, then unbolt it as normal.

Pretty much exactly as you described, except there is no room between where its folded and the keyway for any type of tool.

Use a punch, it will deform the nut but you are supposed to replace them anyway.
You could use a small chisel, sideways, to cut into the area that's pressed down. Once it's cut, stick a small tool in there and fold it up.
