MAF and check engine light?
Hey gang, Just got a C43. But the CEL came on yesterday. I took it in te get it checked and they said it was a faulty MAF. However the service center can't take the car it next tues. The previous owner had the MAF replace just 2 weeks ago. Can it be more than just the MAF, and how bad is it for me to drive it with a faulty MAF till Tuesday. TIA

If it was just replaced 2 weeks ago and you have a self-adaptation code for the air mass again, odds are either they didn't reset the adaptations when they replaced the air mass, or you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Hey there, are you by chance the same "knvs" from the VWVortex forums? Anyway, if you are in the SF Bay Area I have a generic OBDII scanner so at least you can see what codes come up. Let me know.

Also is it bad to drive around with a bad MAF if it is, or will it be ok til tues. How bad is a vaccume leak? how bad is it to fix (cost)? Could it be O2 sensors? it also bogs in idle, it revs from 500-700 and not smooth when i coast under 20 mph. But when i get to higher speeds it's ok.

Just got the car back and it was a faulty MAF. Stupid dealer took 4 days to fix it, but they gave me a brand new c240 for a loaner. So smooth compare to the C43, but so slow, lol. What worries me is that the MAF was just replaced on 3/10/04. Why would it have failed so soon?
