2000 or 1999 C43
Found a few 2000 C43s for sale, do these cars have the infamous 1st gear tranny problem even with the touchshift feature. I know the 2000 has teleaid and touchshift, is there any other differences? I really want to trade the IS300 for a C43 but I am worried about long term reliability and maintenance costs as I plan to keep it for a while and put a lot of miles on it.

i believe the 2000 c43 is extremely rare, especially in the US (like only 10-20 were importedI think),,,,if you found one, you should grab it if its in good condition.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
AlBoston, tranny is only real difference. i say go for it! 2000 is real rare. and you cant worry about potential issues cause youre gonna drive yourself crazy if you worry about that kind of stuff... overall it is a solid vehicle.
worried about reliability? if you can live with that 98 ML you have dont worry about an AMG's reliability. c43's much more reliable than the infamous problem prone ml.
maintenance costs, alot more than standard mb's, but still its worth it when you think about the pride and fun of owning an AMG.
definitely BUY IT!!!

Go for a test drive and take a mechanic with, he should be able to figure out tranny problems (if there's one). That's what I did. I know you never can be sure that there's no problem but we sold about 10 C43's an just made one tranny since the first C43!
