I am parting out two Mercedes Benz C36 AMG sedans (1995 / 1996) for a project that I am doing with my Mercedes G-Wagon. Most of the stuff from the 1st car is gone, and I am starting on the 2nd car this week.

The following is available (or can be quickly pulled from the car). I would really prefer to sell this as a complete upgrade set. This is a major HP increase from the standard M104 engine. Both the transmission and differential ran different gear ratios (compared to the standard cars) to take advantage of this engine's power and RPM curves. If you are upgrading a C280 or E320, the entire drivetrain is available:
AMG Engine - AMG Transmission - AMG Differential - AMG Brakes

AMG 3.6L (M104.941)
- The engine is currently a short block with accessories removed.
- ECU (Pre-DAS w/ No VIN Lockout)
- ECU (From 1996 C36 With DAS. Will need to have VIN Cleared)
- Engine Wiring Harness (appears to be newer version with no frayed wires or connections )

Engine Accessories can be sold with the engine or separately. I currently have everything for one complete engine, and some accessories from the second. It depends on who calls me first.
- Brackets
- Alternator
- A/C Compressor
- Power Steering
- Coolant Tank
- Please contact for any other components not listed

4-Speed Transmission (722.328) w/ transmission controller | I have two of these
- Transmission Controller

Entire Rear Subframe Assembly | I have two sets of these
- AMG Differential 2.87:1
- Both CV Joints
- Wheel Hub w/ Bearings
- AMG Rear Brake Calipers (willing to sell separately)

- AMG Front Brake Calipers | I have two sets of these
- AMG Rear Brake Calipers | I have two sets of these
- Master Brake Cylinder

Stainless Steel Exhaust with AMG Stamped tips. Willing to separate the rear segment with tips.

(5) AMG Monoblock Wheels (Includes the full size spare)

Interior (all or separate)
- Front Seats w/ Seat Heaters (Black)
- Rear Seat w/ Ski Bag (either bottom seat or rear back available).
- Interior Wood Trim
- Rear Signal Lenses

I have listed major parts which I think is in good condition. Everything is sold AS-IS and has NO WARRANTY. I will do my best to get you any detailed pictures of what you want. If you are interested in ANYTHING that I have not included, just ask.

How about the front bumper? Is the ignition coil cover in good shape? Interior wood? Just some things I've been looking for

Dear Mr. Braingears,

I'm a newbie to this forum, so please excuse any breached to decorum I've made. The length of time that has passed since you posted this doesn't leave me especially hopeful, but do you still have either of your C36 engine wiring harnesses?

A few years ago, someone sold me a 1995 C36 which supposedly had already had its original wiring harness (the one with the insulation that started flaking off after a few years time) replaced. Once the car arrived after being transported a thousand miles, I discovered that the entire wiring harness had been meticulously wrapped in black vinyl electrical tape (!).* And four years later, the wiring harness has begun to fail (and of course it turned out to be the original, flawed version), and now the electronic throttle alternately surges to full throttle without the accelerator being pushed, then drops to idle while the car is in motion, and even flooring the accelerator won't budge the RPMs at all. So far, the efforts of a talented mechanic to determine where in this tangled, taped-up mess the short circuit is have come to naught. The wiring harness is no longer available for purchase from Daimler-Benz-- it's no longer in production, and there is no sign of there being old stock anywhere.

Enough information has been already purged from Mercedes' parts database, that there is no longer a way to see if the same harness is available for any other models under a different part number-- the best the parts manager can do to check that is by starting out with the VIN of a potential donor vehicle and working backwards. My favorite US nationwide salvage dealer told me, sadly, that they don't save wiring harnesses from the cars they receive-- the immediately get pulled and melted down for the copper, under the assumption that they are otherwise worthless-- their corporate policy must not have envisioned being contacted by some frantic loser in desperate need of an engine wiring harness, even though they could sell one, if they hadn't already destroyed them all, for a lot more than the value of the copper in it. [Posting continues below following a pause to weep]

Anyway, the engine wiring harness from a 1995 or 1996 C36 should be identical. Chances of a 1997 C36 being compatible are less, as the horsepower of that motor was increased, along with the transmission being changed from a 4-speed to a 5-speed automatic. But that harness might be similar enough to be modifiable (with solder and transparent heatshrink tubing this time, not vinyl tape). The 1995 and 1996 C280s, which had the motor AMG started out with before working their magic, will likely work, possibly without needing any modification. I'm not sure about a 1997 C280; US models probably didn't switch to a V-6 from the previous straight six until 1998 but I not absolutely certain when they implemented all the changes they made to the W202 around that time.

Thank you very much for your time

*In addition, the way in which some idiot aftermarket installer managed to mutilate the stereo wiring is truly bizarre, but this note is too long already without sharing details. Besides, I know how to cope with that (rehabilitate might be a better term) whenever the car comes back home from the shop. If it ever comes back home.

There are many different versions of the 1995-1996 wiring harness. You need to look at the part number on your existing harness and search that way. Have you looked on ebay?
