1999 C43 AMG, 2005 E55 Wagon
I can tell you about using the w210 E55 engine in mine.
The C43 was already a fun car, quick enough to get into trouble. But definitely not "fast" by today's measurements, because a V6 camry is just as fast.
But with the 55 engine its a very different machine. Faster than a lot of newer cars! After driving a C43 for 5 years then converting it to C55, it makes me wonder why MB/AMG didn't make them all standard with the 55 engine. It would have been remembered very differently! Instead, the C43 was almost forgotten in time.
Wait, our cars were built in Bremen? But the build plates all say Stuttgart?

Thank you for your description
Yes i think so to! The 4,3 Engine is fast, but not fast enough
No not all cars were built in Bremen! It depends on what is on your build plates. On my build plate stands the "F" that means factory Bremen.
W2020331F....
What is your chassis number? WDB202033????

This is from wikipedia. Is it a false statement?
"In late 1997 (1998 model year) AMG released a new flagship for the C-Class, the C 43 AMG, powered by a 4.3 L V8, which could now achieve 310 PS (228 kW; 306 hp) at 5850 rpm, with a torque of 410 N·m (302 lb·ft) at 3250 rpm. Unlike the C36, which was in fact a "ready-to-sell" C280 disassembled for tuning at the AMG factory, the C43 was the first AMG car to be completely assembled at the AMG plant in Affalterbach after the acquisition of AMG by Daimler-Benz in 1998."

Sorry but that is completely wrong!
"after the acquisition of AMG by Daimler-Benz in 1998" -----> WRONG!!!!!!
In 1999 took Daimler Benz 51% of amg and the
company was renamed Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
Since January 2005, Mercedes-AMG GmbH has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG.
.....so i think that was enough history....:-)
The only thing we have screwed to our C43 in affalterbach were the front and rear bumper and the side skirts!
And the complete final inspection was also made at the factory in Affalterbach.

you are a wealth of knowledge!
I guess that makes it even more impressive that our cars hold up very well over many years and miles. They were made in Bremen and not by hand in Affalterbach but still are built like a tank.
Thank you for the data card!
