The 1998 and 1999 C43 has a gated shifter that you can shift between 1-5 gear. The time from when you select a gear to when it shifts is LONG. The shifting also seems to be correlated to the throttle input and by that I mean if you are at full throttle and shift at 4000 RPM the car will hold to redline. The 7 speed will actually shift even at full throttle, I learned this the hard way when playing around with the CTS-V.

I LOVE the W204 C63 and I even commented to my wife how much of a beast it must be once it gets tuned to the full 504 HP. I can only imagine how insane my E63 would be if it was 500 lbs lighter.

Good to read the positive stories on this board. I see two beautiful E class AMG's in this topic love them!
Keep us posted on the updates, always fun to read about opinions and mods.
Personally I would forget about the Alcantare wheel, for my CLK I got a custom wheel made in Germany. Love how it makes the interior looks more fresh.
Hard choice between the 55 and the 63, choosing myself between the two for an CLS AMG. For now I enjoy the 6.0 M113 in the CLK, great fun but I love the big body coupe style of the CLS.
@503C43 ////AMG What do you think about it's engine sound? Going to mod the AMG exhaust?

UPDATE:
Just got my MyGenius handheld programmer from Eurocharged and have sent in my stock file for a tune. It took all of 5 minutes to download my stock file. I wish it was this easy when I got my C43 tuned by Eurocharged...
I will update in 24-48 hours when my tune arrives

In standard Eurocharge fashion I received my tune in less than 24 hours (Eurocharged FTMFW!). It takes less than 10 minutes to upload the tune with the MyGenius hand held. I can't believe what a difference the tune makes! Not only is the throttle more responsive, there is more power in the lower RPM's. 3rd or 4th gear @ 4k RPM is INSANE. I truly believe I can easily walk my C43 at WOT going 70 MPH with only 33% throttle input. At this point the only reason I'm getting headers is for sound, I do not need more power.
below is my plan for mods:
Eurocharged tune (done)
ROW air boxes
UPD intake spacer kit (on the fence with this one)
MBH headers
Should be making 550+ HP with the mods listed above

Sorry for posting all this in the W202 section but the W211 E63 section is dead. There isn't nearly as much activity as there is here.

Those MBH headers will be glorious. All their stuff appears to be King of the ring. You’re shooting for 550 crank, correct? I also have a set of aFe filters on the way for the 55. I opened up my current airbox to find K&Ns..what an oily nightmare.

I have never run K&N specifically for the fact they require oil. Oil + MAF = CEL

Awesome! That’ll definitely be hauling! I’ve loved my aFe filters also because of the no oil, but unfortunately on my C43, the filter seal started to open in the airbox. You can see a little unfiltered gap.

I installed the air boxes and air filters today. I don't really notice more power but it seems smoother at low speeds and the throttle response is increased. I also noticed more burbles when down shifting. This motor is AMAZING! Someone needs to figure out how to drop an M156 in a C43
