Limited production info on C43
Anyone have production documentation on our 98-00 C43? I know the numbers but need a chart to submit to NJDMV for classic car status so I can bypass inspection.Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Just had mine inspected a few months ago in Jersey. I thought it was 3 more years before I'm exempt on the 99 from inspection. Did I read the regs wrong?

..No you didn't.I usually have mine inspected but if your car is ''collector status'' meaning low production you can register it as that and yearly it will cost $25 for the sticker which you are inspection exempt. So I filled out the app online with pics of vehicle and collector insurance proof.I didn't include proof it was limited production is all.

I'm honestly not certain but for the MY 2000, only 21 or 23 units made it to the US and 0 to CANADA. That leaves 70-72 units unaccounted for. The MY 1999 only 64 units made it to CANADA and MY 1998 only 60 units shipped to CANADA. Total 98-00 C43's shipped to CANADA were 124 units. That's 1233 units shipped to the US after deducting the 124 units shipped to CANADA for 3 years of production.

W202 C43 AMG production numbers (for Canada)
Anyone successful in getting limited production plates from ICBC in BC Canada? MB Canada wont provide me with a letter confirming how many used were brought to Canada or what the international production numbers were for a 1999 C43. Im hoping citing another BC C43 collector plate will be enough for ICBC...TIA

MB/AMG deliberately stopped releasing production figures after the above numbers were released. They gave no reason why, but were clear in the fact that they will no longer be releasing any production figures from any nation or continent for any generation or model of AMG.
You can only speculate as to why, but the reason should be pretty obvious: AMG cars have become far more common. It's just less exciting to own a 2018 E63S when you find out they sold 20,000 of them that year. They've reached BMW M levels of sales figures and it frankly makes them less alluring.
That, or the fact that they would have to settle the dispute as to what constitutes a "real AMG" or not. The decades-long factor that made a car an AMG was the simple fact that AMG built the car or at least the engine. They now sell far more 35/43/53 AMG cars (cars where AMG did not build or design a single part of the car) than they sell 45/63/65 AMG cars (whose engines were hand built at AMG by a single person). If they know they sold 15k 63 AMG's in a year, but then also sold 25k 43 AMG's in the same year, it dilutes the numbers and the brand. It's easier to just not release the numbers.
But they only made about 3,400 w202 C43 AMG's ever. Meanwhile BMW made about 70k e36 M3's.
Early AMG's are rare by every metric.
