Hello - New Here (California)

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, as I'm sure everyone can tell from my thread count LOL. Been a long time Bimmer guy (E36 M3), but recently became very interested in C36/43's and would like to find a good one to pick up - hence my joining the forum here.

Just want to say hello and hopefully learn from folks on here. Oh and would love to get some FS leads besides what I have been finding on here as well. Thanks!

Will

Welcome azn I am new to the forum as well...c43's are definitely out there but the amount of decent condition ones are dwindling...if you find a good low mile example for less than 10 grand consider buying it...do you have an idea of what you want?...color, mileage, daily driver or showroom condition?

Welcome aboard. Can't help regarding a 36 or 43 as I'm in Europe, but as said your need to be careful when searching around. Plenty of info on this forum page and plenty of knowledgable owners around too willing to give you some advice.

Well there is some talking about one which could be of interest for you:

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I am located in Southern California, Orange County area.

PJmak - I noticed you're in the Sacramento area, I think? I am actually going to be in your area this weekend lol.

W202LIfe - I am not too picky about color - probably silver, black, or white. It will be a daily driver, but realistically that means occasional lunch runs during the week and errands/outings on weekends since I work from home. Mileage-wise, of course I'm hoping under 100K but in good condition, but I understand that impacts pricing. One thing I have realized based on recent research is how different the market is from what I am used to with E36 M3's - I get the rarity of the C43, but it actually looks like people are more willing to drive it than the E36s. Where are you located? I can help you look while I am on my search as well.

I am in Sac

I can arrange a meet with my friend who has one for sale.

Its got light body damage but otherwise has nice mods including a 5.4 motor swap.

Silver, clean title with under 125k miles.

PJmak - thanks for the info. Any idea what your friend is selling his far, by any chance? Just curious.

W202 - I actually saw a FS based out of Tennessee recently. Let me find the link again and PM it to you - maybe it will help. I do recall it wasn't cheap though.

Hey,

My advice is to have a PPI (Private Party Inspection) done before purchase. If possible, have one done by a MB Shop or dealer so you can see what is all needed. It might save you a headache down the line.

I just got my C43 about 2 months ago, and I love it. I had a very detailed PPI done, and ended up also taking it to a shop a few days after purchase. I now know exactly what items I need to target first, and also have a list of what needs to be addressed. If you're a bit mechanically versed, some maintenance items can be done at home. There isn't a lot of video DIY stuff for the W202 C43, but these boards are full of content.

Best of luck on your search, and I suggest using Autotempest to search across multiple sites and craigslist cities at once!!

Thanks for all the feedback and warm welcome everyone, appreciate it. I definitely agree a good PPI to sort through potential issues, or at least know what I am up against is the best way to go. I will be doing that as I find the right car to move forward with.

RPB - Glad to hear you're happy with the transition from E36 to C36, I am hoping to follow suite. It looks C36/C43 is built solid, so I'm looking forward to it.
