New C43 owner
i just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to the group. I have been lurking here a while and can see there is a lot of love here for these early AMG machines. I am an early 911owner, have been since the early 1980’s and I sense the same kind of bond here. In my experience this is only available if it’s a machine that is unique in its development as well as successful..
I have just purchased a really original 1999 C43; it is 900 Miles from me, so I will be a week or so meet in in person, and some more time until we are acquainted. I am sure I will have some questions, and I hope there will be help available to me here.
thanks in advance,
Bill

Welcome, I'm sure you will love your C43 once you start driving it. Any problems just post and we can help. Lot of good helpful people here that actually take the time to help out!
And if you ever need or want to boost the performance of your car PM me. I modify the stock air box to give the engine more power.

Welcome Bill. Please share some pictures of both the 911 and the C43 when you pick it up.

This forum is for the 95-00 C36 and C43, which are the more boxy ones you see in our sig pics. If you're looking at the much newer 2017+ C43's, which would be more comparable in price to the Macan you mentioned, that is the W205 forum that you'd want to ask in.

I am in Houston area, and this car is in Nashville, TN. I looked at a lot of C43 & C36 sedans, and this was the perfect combo of color condition and good history that swung me into the fast lane.
i am flying up Thursday to collect the car and have a 2 day return adventure planned thru Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. I promise I’ll send some photos from the road, please be kind, I’m not the greatest photographer.

Love the long nose cars and would love to own one if the prices ever become a bit more reasonable again. My dad has an 84 Carrera and that is such an enjoyable car to drive. Hope the C43 buying experience goes well for you.

Thanks, Mickey13, Thanks Eric. I am so excited about this C43, I can't wait to get behind the wheel, headed there this morning.
My luck is like this: I only fly these days when it is unavoidable, after many years as a road warrior I can't stand the state of modern air travel. I will fly Southwest if I can, the last airline that I don't actually hate.
So I get up this AM, start getting ready to Uber to Hobby airport for a 2 hr jaunt to Nashville. (Road Trip!!!) I turn on the morning news to find out that some genius has arrived at the airport this morning with a plastic hand grenade in their carry on bag. Evacuate the entire airport, many flights stay at gate for extended time to allow folks to make flights. What are the odds? My first flight of 2018, my first flight from Hobby airport since around 1985, and this is my reward. Oh well, still says on time. we'll see...;(
I'l try to load some snapshots from the road, and share my first impressions tonight from Little Rock, my layover on the drive back.

Road trip - the update
All went very well, overall. The flight was on time and uneventful, made it to the agreed upon location and was in my new C43 and on the Interstate headed west by 2PM. The car is amazingly responsive, and this particular one is virtually new, even though it has 64,000 miles. Suffice to say that I could not have picked a better previous owner than the one I have.
I spent last night in Little Rock, had a fine Japanese dinner at Wasabi. Gyoza, Ichi ban of Ahi, and a large Sapporo beer. I got up this morning and was on the road at 8 o’clock. Traffic was pretty light and I followed the Interstate to Texarkana, TX. There I jumped on US highway 59 and followed that all the way into North Houston. I was home by 2:30PM, fresh, and still very much in love with this car. I am ready for the next road trip, which I think says it all. Great Machine!
