98 C43 AMG diff carrier removal

Is there a special trick to getting this c clip out? We've been using a combo of flat head and a punch since the snap ring pliers broke on it.

Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers

I imagine a heavy duty ring plier is needed, not the smaller ones you normally find in your tool box which also broke on you.

Those clips were such a pain! I used c-clip pliers and a flat head to slowly work those clips out when i went to lsd

I guess that would be a necessary investment for someone who sends his time rebuilding MB diffs
