Cold air box

Cold air box
Quick question, anyone familiar with using a w211, m113k cold air filter box on the m113? I remember a modified version of them being sold, is there still people selling those, and what exactly is modified to make it work i'm wondering if its the Y pipe. I just want a slight cold air improvement, and if there isn't a performance improvement i believe the aesthetic of seeing more of the engine is better.

yes exactly, seems like they notched a Y pipe so it can fit the engine bay, i don't know if that's the original Y pipe like in this link. My question is how does fit work on a m113 throttle body.

the air in that airbox has to travel around the middle section before going to the engine so its less direct, i hear the c55 airbox is more for looks and the e55 airbox is more for power because its taller, this is how it ;

There is a guy on this forum that did back to back dyno w/ the C43 box and the C55/CLK box and it was an impressive improvement. It looks to me that the middle section is mostly cosmetic - most, if not all, of the air flow is likely through the side just like the Kompressor air box. The Kompressor box change might be the space constraints - no room for center section plus wouldn't you rather look at a supercharger!
Would be interesting to see back-to-back dynos between these two boxes.

well ill like to see the intake manifold over a plastic cover, Mercedes invented this design with the c63, plus with the e55 air box you can add spacers to make it higher for more air, not sure about the CLK box.
