Engine badge
Do you guys and gals have an emblem under the hood with the name of a person who built your engine for you?
Mine has it and also has Special edition tag.
anyone know what is so special? Does your car says special?
Thanks

As a reminder, the C36 was assembled in Affalterbach. On the otherhand, the C43 was assembled on the Bremen production line with parts (engine and sundry items) supplied by AMG.

c36 was a c280 taken off the line and converted to a c36 while the 43 was fully assembled from scratch at AMG.
The story is opposite for the motors. the 3.6 m104 was fully assembled by amg while the m113 was pulled from a e430 and modified

Yes the 280 was pulled from the production line and assembled/modified to C36 status at Affalterbach. The c43 was never assembled at Affalterbach but remained on the production line in Bremen.
Regarding the engine, the M113 was probably sent from the engine production line to Affalterbach to receive upgraded cams, possibly also modified cylinder heads (intake manifolds? uncertain) and sent to Bremen to be assembled to the chassis.
This info was confirmed when I visited Mother-ship in 2012

I was under the impression that Benz continued to do hand built engines post Amg buyout.
Sucks as I thought all Amg cars before 2001 or so were hand built.
Thank you for your time.
