1999 C43 Brakes
#2
I ordered the Axxis pads from Stoptech. Installed the Steel lines from them as well.. much much much better pedal feel now :-)
Theres still some play from wanting to slow down and actually slowing down but the pedal modulation and feel is so much better once your slowing and/or stopping. I hope the Axxis pads help give the brakes a bit more initial 'bite' since the OEM pads have 60K on them and are soft to begin with.
The best brakes on the planet are my M3 brakes.... but I'm biased because I have not really driven every car on the planet. I do wish I could duplicate the brakes from the M to the C43, without spending a fortune on my daily driver (c43).
Ok rambling sorry...

Sorry but no one makes a replacement rotor for the C43 yet.
Your only option is the genuine rotor from the dealer.
Pads, you have numerous choices.
The C43 shares the IDENTICAL pad with the Z8, and GTI R32.
For stock applications, Mintex are a fine option. They're low dusting and feel just like stock.

Mike,
I have a 1999 C43 also, and I have recently been looking for cross-drilled rotors. After extensive research the only place I have found that supplies them for the C43 is KVR out of Canada. I would call them. Have your VIN # handy also, because that is how they find the right size for your car. Hope that helps. Oh, by the way, they are about $400 a rotor.

Secondly, all C43s use the same rotors. No need for a VIN. The fact that they ask for a VIN suggests that they believe C36 rotors may fit, and this could be what they kept coming up with for my C43.
Finally, the C43 rotors are multipiece. If you want to have similar fade-free performance, your aftermarket rotors should be multipiece as well.

You can order your rotors stock and then send them to The Brakeman or Coleman Racing and they will heat treat the rotor to make them twice as resistance to wear and they will also slot them. Slotting the rotors is the way to go.
