Is there any performance gain fitting an airbox from C55 AMG?
Comparing fitting issues between C43 airfilter box and C55 airfilter box?
The C55 airfilter box should be a vast improvement as it has each filter on both sides of the engine where the C43 airfilters sits on top of the engine sucking up hot air from intake manifold.
Keeping it cool is more preferable.
My buddy has the T-shaped tube that runs from MAF connected to airbox and the front AMG engine cover.
Is it possible to re-use the front plastic air tubes from the C43 airfilter box and attach them to the C55 airfilter side boxes without any modifications?
Besides covering bottom part of airfilter box with heat resistant foil to keep it somehow cooler is there any performance gains using the C55 airfilter box?
Would car run more buttersmooth or much better with this different design of an airfilter box?

The other option is to just see if your buddy will let you trial fit it before you commit. It's a two minute job and make sure that you try closing your hood before calling it good.
Either way it's a time consuming and costly tryout.
I remember Zayed installed a W211 E55 Kompressor airfilter box on one of his cars, he posted some photos in another thread where he had painted all plastic details in different colors.
Don't remember if Zayed noticed any improvement with the newer filter box?
If the newer type airbox fits not getting crushed closing hood it should be OK?
Is there a better solution using other design of AMG airboxes other than C55?
Thanks

I find that extremely hard to believe. That would be the most incredible real world example of reducing engine temps on earth.
He posts a pic of his engine temp gauge as proof and it's hovering at around 78C. That's where mine stays already. And that would imply that with his stock airbox in a w208 CLK55 (which is the exact same engine, bay, exhaust, and intake as a w202 C43/55) was running normally at 90-95C. Under no circumstance is any M113 operating at those temps normally.
From what I remember the c55 box hits the fuel line so the line has to be moved a bit. And I dont remember if the bottom part clipped perfectly to the engine.
In my opinion the c55 box will give a little more performance, how much more i really don't know. And it's because the c55 box has more height or more air volume inside the box. So it will breathe better.
Is it worth it compared to the c43 air box. To ME, no. The c43 air box has a really good design. It just needs to be lifted 3/4 to 1 inch higher. Thats all it needs for really good performance all around no matter what rpm you're in. Hit the pedal and away you go.
1 inch taller box does it hit the underside of hood lining?
Does anyone know how tall Renntech box is?
Protective mesh for MAF, how come you don't keep this in place when you modify these boxes?
Metal mesh is put in place for a reason to keep debris away from MAF.
Does Renntech boxes have this mesh in place?
Thanks

Renntech raises about 1 inch.
I use to raise them higher than that because our c43 have the room for it. But 1 inch gives same power as the 2 inch. I can keep the silver mesh but you may loose HP as it does stop air flow. Air filters is enough to protect from small debris. And yes renntect air box do not have the mesh either. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
