One less rare c43 on the road :(
Totally accidentally came across this red c43 at a pick n pull about two hours from me.
Its been sitting there since June 26th. I had to go. Drive there was two hours and drive back was a bit over three due to rush hour.
Drive was totally worth it. Surprisingly no-one wanted the two tone interior. I was able to pull it out and buy it at an unbelievable price. Everything was there except the steering wheel and the shifter knob. Center console and cluster were gone already. Not sure why someone would take all that and not want the interior??
Filled up the cart and checked out at $183 for both the front and rear seats. Annoyingly the rear head reasts took longest to pull out.
Loaded the seats into my suv and came back for the front bumper, side skirt floor jack covers, some weather stripping and trim on my second load. Checked out at $63 that time.
Trunk was smashed and muffler was gone already.
Front bumper has some cracks but not entirely broken through like my original was but it was taken off the bumper bracket so its just the bumper cover.
The rear bumper on the car was perfect and the sideskirts were in ok shape but I had no room in my suv unfortunately.
Seats aren't perfect but no tears, mostly small cracks and rly dirty. I think they'll clean up really good.

Amazing find , glad to see it fell into the right hands . I know every part will go into good use and be appreciated
I would buy the shell if I had more space and display just as it sits art work
can’t wait to see how the seats look in your car

Look at that hand-built M113 hanging like that, with the oil filter cap completely removed and exposed to open sky...
Was the steering wheel available?? I wish I could've spoken to you before this trip.

Hey man.
The steering wheel and shifter knob were removed. Center console was ripped out probably in an attempt to remove the stereo.
Cluster was gone too. No floor mats unfortunately.

What sucks is that if you look at when it arrived below and then at PJ's pics, there appeared to be at least one good fender and doors and what not, and people have just screwed up what would have been some pretty valuable parts. That is what I don't like about these self-pull yards. Like how did the hood get all mangled like that??

I went there mostly for the driver side factory fender. Wasnt even counting on scoring the interior.

Driver seat is a bit rough. Ill take pics of it when I do another cleaning pass with Leatherique product.
If anyone has a bottom cusio for front seats in two tone for sale Ill buy it. Loomin to get one in better shape.
This is the rest of the seats with just one quick cleaning session with regular leather cleaner.

I grabbed the following over the weekend:
-Rear Bumper
-Both rockers/side skirts
-Exterior door trim and front fender trim
-Passenger side mirror assembly
-Wood veneer trim for 3 of the 4 doors (right rear was already gone)
-Front brake calipers and rotors
-Headliner
-Air compressor for seats/locks/etc
Things that are still there and in decent shape:
-Door trims sans wood veneers
-Suspension, including struts, springs, and sway bars
-Dash
-Sun roof assembly
-Trunk trim
The engine is likely done. Huge chunk missing out of the upper and lower oil pans as well as the driver's side valve cover. Transmission is still there, but no idea on the condition. Same with drive shaft and diff. Pics in next post.
There is a CLK430 sitting next to it that appears to have an intact M113 engine minus one of the valve covers. Didn't look at it too closely and there was oil on the bottom, so not sure whether the internals are ok. There is also a W210 there with the exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals with the driver side mirror appearing to be ok while the passenger side was quite mangled. Didn't notice anything else worth mentioning, but was mostly focused on the C43. Thanks for sharing PJ!

Nice man. I'm glad the parts are going to good hands.
We found the steering wheel on ebay few days ago, it already sold but was in bad shape.
Man wish I saw the 210, I need a driver side mirror with blinkers but I was just in too much of a hurry to get good parts off lol.
I got the side skirt covers by the way.......sorry
How was the headliner? I didn't even pay attention coz I knew I wouldn't have room for it.

No problem, I had saw in your post that you already got those. I still have all of mine, so no immediate need.
The headliner was in ok shape. Definitely a recover that doesn't have the black strips along the side, but at least it has a good board, which I am missing everything from my original. I will try to find someone who can redo it to factory spec or still end up buying a new one from MB.
Still trying to figure out what all I am going to work on before showing it at RADwood NorCal in July. You coming down for that?

I asked about it two years ago and they could still get it from Germany, but it was close to $1k. Haven't looked into it more recently than that. Glad that I at least have a board now if they are NLA.

If there was one, Id camp out there in front of the door before the place opens like those kids camp out in front of Same Stop when the new gaming consoles come out.
