Now just need someone to copy the part in order to make some 3D printer parts available.

I am thinking duplicate a spare one before putting on my car, need to figure out the 3d scan and printing cost though, since this is a huge plastic part, it might cost a lots, anyone interested getting a 3d printing one? Why don’t we just write to AMG and have them manufacture them again or use todays 3d technology since they have 3d file already

Yeah! Personally, I don't need one, but I'm sure others certainly would be seriously interested

Where are you located? I have a 3D scanner at work tomorrow in the Bay Area. Scanning something much larger than that piece, so wouldn't be a problem to throw that in.

to the OP here... unless you are really lacking in disposable income, i can almost guarantee if you spend the time to work with a shop to duplicate that part either from urethane or fiberglass they/you will be able to sell at least 50 of them over the next 18 months. just dont gouge people on the pricing. I personally dont need one, but If I had that new one I would work with someone to make a mold for it for sure, then ask the shop to cut me a deal if I buy 20 of them and then Id look to sell them for $150 more than whatever they charged me (plus shipping). and you'd also be doing the community a favor, haha... Im sure ill need one eventually (fingers crossed i dont!)

During my hunting of original parts, I actually found and bought some used replicas in Asia, I am not sure the fit, but I was told the black one is a higher quality replica, due to Covid 19 pandemic, the international shipping became very expensive, therefore I am not in hurry to do the fit check till shipping cost is back to normal. I was going to order another OEM part as spared, however my friend who found me the original part told me this is the last piece he can locate which make me believe this might be the last new in box piece I can ever find. I know one of the member is working on a 3D printing one, let’s wait for his work.

Sir, honestly, I have no idea the total effort and cost is needed to duplicate a big piece of plastic like this but I am pretty sure it won’t be cheap to build a steel tool for a good quality part in this size. therefore maybe 3D scan and printing is our best bet to make this part reasonable price?

I have an OEM one that's broken that I was planning on repairing some day. But if someone has a reasonable way of replacing with new I might be interested.

I have a friend in Michigan that does fiberglass parts. Mostly hoods, and fenders for old trucks for guys that build mud bog rigs and replace the steel body with fiberglass. But my point here is that he does this without expensive tooling, as I understand it as long as he has an original part to make a mold (also of fiberglass I think?) He is good to go. I'm sure there are fiberglass guys like that everywhere. As I understand it carbon fiber works the same way.

Thank you for your input~ I am having one friend locally here to evaluate the possibility to do 3D scan and printing, it the cost is NOT high, I will give it a try to make proto part first. Let me also study the fiberglass mold option as well in parallel, this is also a good idea. I was thinking the plastic injection steel mold....but it will be too expensive

You clearly have no idea what's involved to properly replicate the C36 tow covers. I'm that guy that spent thousands of dollars for prototyping, paying someone skilled to make the plans and producing sets. That price is in CAD by the way - and I'm not forcing anybody to buy sets.

I just shared details. Do you ask every business you deal with how it's made, what's involved into making the parts and what are their cost in details? Come on. If me telling you I spent thousands of dollars and countless free hours into releasing quality parts isn't enough for you, sorry.
