C36 Transmission Diffrences Please Help
Ok I have a 1997 C36 w/5spd electronicly controlled auto the 722.6 tranny mines going out. I found a 1996 C36(wrecked) w/4spd auto tranny heard no problems with these trannys. I want to remove the 4spd auto tranny and put it in mine, I think the 4spd is not electronicly controlled.What do I have to do to do the swap? Vac lines and cable? Please help.

isn't the whole engine management system totally different in 97 from 96? not sure what else u'd need for a 5sp to 4sp auto... but i'd imagine a bit more than some auto for manual swaps.
btw, reliability aside, i always felt the 4sp needed an extra gear. at highway cruise speeds, it gets a little buzzy...sounds like my dad snoring sometimes...

why would you want to go backward..
The 5 spd auto tranny is the best thing that happened to 97 C36, which make it rare in the US..
Beside different ECU and control unit for the transmission I am not sure if the engine harness can be used...
If I were you I'd stick with 5 spd tranny...
btw what is your mileage....? My tranny went out not too long ago..
