Improve gas milage?

I have a 98 C43 and am currently getting about 17.5 mpg and this is under normal driving, this isn't bad but I see that some members are claiming that they get between 18 - 21 mpg.

Now I know that this car isnt expected to get great gas milage but I wanted to ask if anyone knew of things you can do to improve gas milage? like change to a certain kind of air filter or spark plugs? etc? I look forward to hearing from all of you, thanks in advance.

Driving style will probably be your biggest factor in getting better mileage.

A Fuel additive that works -

I drive pretty aggressively and fast - 85 on the freeway. I was getting less than 20 mpg. I get 21-22 now using a fuel additive called Freedom Fuel. Pretty hard to find - my business reps it exclusively. If you're interested I'll throw a bottle in the mail for you to try.

Most people see 10-20% increase in mileage if you drive normal. Seems to do the trick in my C36.
