I've been wondering how one can distinguish visually if a C43 does in fact have an E55 engine installed in it other than performing a dyno (or driving it). It seems that the physical dimensions are identical. So, is there a stamp of VIN on the engine somewhere to see if the engine is from an E55 (or other models that came with 5.4 liter engine)? I've seen some C43s on e-bay claiming that an engine swap was made with a 5.4 l engine. So, I want to be able to see if there is a VIN on the engine itself for matching with the VIN number on other parts of the car.
I did some research:
The answer is VIN is on the engine itself (machined pad on front of engine).
