C450 AMG
A question fellas. How much extra power do you think can be extracted out of the C450 maybe with just a tune. It comes with 367 hp...400 maybe? Thinking about it as a DD because of the all wheel drive especially with these NY winters. That would be more than enough power for me.

fantastic car, great exhaust, but is it still like all depreciating jaguars?

The brand has done a complete 180. Jag is on the map once again...doing very well. I for one don't buy cars worried about depreciation. I buy them because of the style, performance and the uniqueness. You won't see them in everyone's neighborhood, that's for sure.

It depends on how the power bump is achieved in the c450, if the 450 has bigger turbo's rather then it might be able to achieve something like that. However if the power bump is just pure software then there wont be much room for improvement.

I've seen the car up close and personal. It's very sleek looking. The car was tuned by AMG. It's not like a BMW M Sport with badging. The exhaust, suspensions, transmission all have been tweeked by the AMG Team. It will be a hot car and a strong competitor to the S4.

Rediesel, not that old chestnut again. MB themselves say the C450 is a true AMG, so if they say it's a true AMG, who are we to argue.
I created a thread previously saying that someone should create a new sub forum under AMG for the c450. A lot of people will be looking under the AMG forum for c450 related advice.

And I love how the op thinks he'll get more dialogue on this here in the amg forum vs the non amg w205 forum where the c400 (same engine as c450 true-amg) and tuning has been talked to death with actual vendors and tuners chiming in with actual realistic goals for power output, and also where on this amg forum ...people mostly feel burned by amg for succumbing to industrial competition when they created the true-amg c450

You are exactly right. The C450 is nothing more than a C400 with a hotter tune out of the factory. The motor hardware and compenents are identical from one to the other.

If Mercedes say it is, then it is. Simples! I don't know why you have a problem with this. MB produce a whole range of AMG cars and this sits between the CLA 45 and the C63.

MBUSA says that it's an AMG for marketing BS. Actual Mercedes calls it a AMG Sport, and AMG themselves clearly stated that the C450 is in no way a AMG. So if MB, and AMG say that it's not a AMG then it's not a AMG. MBUSA can market it as a C450 "AMG" for all the wannabe posers but it still doesn't change the fact that in no way is it a real AMG.
I think everyone gets BUTT HURT when the poseurs turn the standard car into an AMG with no reasonable basis for doing so. I recall a fellow forum member taking a AWD C class (IIRC C320 4 Matic) and putting an tuned C32 engine in it and it was a rocket ( I drove it). It had an AMG engine glommed onto an 4 Matic C class? Does that make it an AMG? It was stealthy and fast!!

Whoa there? So any guy who buys a C450 is a poseur?? So not fair (as if life's fair huh???). Its simply an alternative to the CLA and the C63 perhaps, BUT no one is truly calling it an AMG. It just has an appearance package and a few engine tweaks. If I saw one going down the road, I certainly would NOT say the guys a poseur simply because he got a C450 and in fact, would give a thumbs UP because he got a C450 and the AWD and the great interior. Beats getting a BMW 3 series and calling it an M car I suppose??
