So it looks like 225/45/18 square setup on 18" rims is the way to go?

I assume they're Fast FC04 18x8 +30 5x112 on the front. Not sure about the back, could be the same all around.

Pricing wise, prob about $850 for all four.

I went with a setup that will be fine for a C43 (spring delivery). I paid 2200CAD F from Goldwing Autocare in Ottawa, however i went with an expensive winter tire Nokian R2. In our snowfall on Monday, they were exceptional and much better than the Blizzaks i have used for 5 years. Quiet too. Could have gone cheaper but have kids regularly in my car (and me too, the most valuable part haha).

No matter what, be prepared to go through tires as this chassis has a well earned rep of eating tires.

I have some winter wheels taking up storage. Rubber may need to change. I'll take sell them for $150. Let me see if I could find a pic.

So I've ordered Nokain Hakka R2's in 225/45/18 size (very few left around here so have to pay to get them shipped from across the province). Now I just have to sort out rims.

I went 18x8 +30 all the way round, with Michelin X-Ice tires and OEM TPMS sensors.

Some of the local tire guys are saying I need a 35mm offset but that would seem to be incorrect based on the experience herein no?

Yep, I paid extra to have them shipped across the province because I feel Nokians are simply the best longest wearing winters available.

I have them on my wife's van and they are great and also had them for 6 winters on another vehicle and they were still around 85%+ tread left.

Geez these are the same rims I'm picking up this weekend, but they'll be in silver...These look more like a gunmetal? Or are they silver? :/

Cheers

Hey Sumras, are these rims silver or gunmetal?

I have 18x8 +35 installed with barely any clearance, but it works. +30 would probably look more safe (more space between the barrel and the control arm), but I am running +35 with no issues.

MrGurch they are a titanium finish. I love them.

35mm offset did not leave any room to balance the wheel on both sides.. so I went +30 no issues,,

I am just wondering why none of you guys are going for a 19" rim winter tire setup. Just wanted to know the reason behind it, because this my first performance car, so may be I am missing something here.

My plan was to actually get the C63s OEM 19" Rims for my car coming summer, so I just wanted to use my OEM 19" Rims which came with the C43 in the winter.

Kumho has 19" wheel tire sizes available for the C43. Is there anything wrong with going for those?

I went with 18s because I've been told you can get better winter tires for them, also because it's snow you need a little more cushioning. Keep in mind that the tire grooves are deeper in snow tires as opposed to summer/performance tires; resulting in you needing a slightly bigger tire.

That's what I think, let me know if I'm totally wrong haha

Better selection and better pricing are a couple reasons for going with 18".

On my F-Sport GS350 Lexus that came with 19" wheels, I went with 17" winter wheels and tires. Just make sure the tire circumference remains as close to stock as possible.

Kaltire had the last set of Nokians I wanted, but they didn't have a rim that would fit so they said I could get them elsewhere. So I got a set of GTS rims with the same specs as yours (18X8 with 35mm offset) from another Nokian dealer that said they had just put them on another C43.

When I brought the rims to Kaltire they guys said they couldn't balance the rim because the caliper clearance was so tight (can't see how this would be any different than any other 18" rim).

Also, the 35mm offset makes for very little clearance between the control arm and the rim but since others have done it I guess that part is fine.

So now I wasted a whole afternoon and I'm still running P Zero's.....

So I have to decide if I switch tires to something like Michelin X-Ice or Toyo's from the dealer that sold me the rims, or force Kaltire to mount the Nokians I want.

What a pain in the ****......

The good news is that my weathertech mats showed up today.......

I literally run the same rim (GTS 507 reps) and I saw with my own two eyes that they balanced and mounted the rim with no problems. Yes the fitment is super super tight but there's definitely enough caliper clearance even with wheel weights.

Are you sure you run the same rim? (the spoke shape also affects the caliper clearance)

I got the GTS E401 rims so not exactly the same as yours. http://www.gtswheels.com/wheels/e401.html

I think the guys at Kaltire are goofs, but they have the tires I want so I'm in a bit of a catch-22.

The rims I run are 100% the same. So you won't have any issues.
