How does the car monitor tire pressure with aftermarket rims?
Stupid question? I would think tire pressure monitoring intelligence would be built into the rim ...no? If so how could you run aftermarket rims?
Whats the skinny?

Just google TPM systems and look at pics and it will answer your questions as they go in valve stem hole and can be moved to any wheel.

Does the car need to be "introduced or learn" the new TPMS?
Was a PITA on our Lexus GS350 F-Sport, each winter and spring we'd have to make a trip to the dealer to have the car learn the changed TPMS.... for $50 each time!!

You can "program" it yourself through the maintenance/service menu.
With just a few button presses it will sync and start reading from the new sensors a few minutes after driving.
I forget the exact steps, as it was almost a year ago, but it is really simple.

That wasn't the case for me when I had a new TPMS put on a wheel. Afterward, I brought the car back they still have to sync it for the system to pick up the new TPMS.

That's odd what year is your car?
I have a 2016 c63s. Swapped out the rubber for winter the day I bought it. Got a set of summer wheels and had the stock dunlops put on those along with the TPMS sensors at Eurotech. I picked up that set in my wife's car and a few months later installed in my garage. There was no warnings or resets needed at all and used it to check the pressure later that day. Same thing when I flipped back to my winter set last week, just put on and drive.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be clear on the details
