With the all wheel drive, can't you just drive very carefully in the snow?

It would stink to have to run snows for a month

How bad exactly are the summer tires in the snow?

Yes, my C400. It was excellent, rattle-free and refined. A big step up from my W204 C63s. Of course , power is not like those big 6.2s but a much more comfortable, luxurious, mini S Class. I am looking forward to a proper sport suspension as the Airmatic, while impressive in many ways, was downright ridiculous in other ways. Same with the Intelligent drive package and HUD.

The only other car as a daily driver that I remotely thought about was the little Jag, but the interior is cheap looking. I was also thinking of a GLC .

There just isn't going to be any grip to turn and brake is more the issue than traction. I think by Monday we will be good to go. It will be warm Sunday and Monday.

Summer tires are completely useless in the snow. But it's not just about on-snow driving. The rubber compound is completely different. Summer tires are a hard rubber that easily softens (become more grippy) in summer heat. But with winter driving, they stay rock hard and can't warm up. It's like driving on plastic wheels. Winter tires have a soft (very grippy) rubber compound so when you are driving on a dry road in 30*f temps or lower, they give you the grip you need.

Summer tires on snow? Sure you can get going with AWD, but good luck on stopping or turning.

Off-topic curiosity, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you, Jimmy?

Officially a AMB C43 owner!

Picked mine up today! Spent the day riding around town in sports + mode listening to that sweet sound! Making sure to shift right before 4500 rpms!

I must say I can't be more pleased with the car, the look of the night package contrast to the polar white is brilliant!

some pics ice from the show room, the cleanest that car will ever be! Honestly the pics don't do justice to how awesome this car looks!

Your car looks AWESOME Atl !!

Quick question about "de-badging", why did you choose to do it?

Again, looks great just wondering as I see people in my area doing that as well and wasn't sure why

Also, do you need to do any body work (are there hole drilled anywhere where the badges used to be)?

Thanks !!

Shhhweet!!! Now realizing the drawback of white... one day driving and all the dirt and brake dust is very noticible. Fell like a shmuck but may have to wash her on day two! Also is it bad that I have had it less than 24hours and already at 1/4 of a tank of gas!

Any tips on cleaning this beast would be much appreciated! thx

I was at a hockey team party last night in your hood... you might of heard the exhaust note from her last night as a couple of the dads at the party wanted to take a ride! 100% reaction was the same grinning and laughing the whole time at the sound of the bi-turbo pops on up shifts and the gurgle and crackle on the down-shifts.... Sooooo hard to keep her under 4500 RPMs!

Eh?

White is the best color for hiding dirt and always looking clean. Might look a little dirty up close, but past 15ft, it'll always look like it was just washed. Unless you're mudding in it or something

Black on the other hand.....

I have polar white as well. I use Mequiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer every 3rd or 4th day depending on driving frequency. Spray it on, use one microfiber towel for wiping the sprayed area followed by a 2nd MF towel for buffing. Every 2 or 3 weeks, apply Mequiar's Ultimate Spray Wax after the detailer. That should lessen the amount of brake dust getting on the car. Both products are made of synthetic polymers which provide great protection and a deep, wet-look shine. I use it on glass and plastic trim as well. They both smell good too!

True story. Wife insisted on black for her Land Rover, I couldn't resist the C43 in black once I saw it in person. My FRS was black. Nothing looks better when pristine though.

Thanks so much for the compliment. I chose to debadge it for a cleaner look. No holes at all from removing the lettering. I had the dealership do it.

Just curious how concerned should I be about dirt doing this? If it is too dirty, I am assuming that it will scratch the paint? Would I need to wash if too dirty or too much grim near the wheels and bumper?

To each their own, but I live on Meguiar's QD. I only use it after washes, or when the roads are dry and I park it at home I will use my California Duster first, then finish with the QD. Looks amazing and deep shine. It works especially well with a polymer seal or ceramic coating. I have Xpel and CQuartz Finest on my Z06 and it makes washing unnecessary.

I am going to try this QD called Blackfire, I hear a lot of good reviews about it.
