But are you saying this in regards to "break-in"?

Non AMG motors are "broken-in" at the factory. You can give-er hell from mile 1

Yes, in regards breaking it in. It's got an AMG motor, so I kinda broke it in the right way. I did stray from the recommended route a few times tho... Now, it's kinda hard staying in sport/sport+ as south London has terrible traffic problems, too many traffic lights that aren't synced, loads of 20 mph zones and speed cameras. Driving ain't the fun it used too be... Rant over, I'm driving it like I'm paying for it

Never did i "break-in" my motor. Far as i look at it the bi-turbo v6 it isnt an AMG motor. It is mass produced (C400,C450,43). As Sean 1.8t said they do not need to be broken in. If it does say so in the manual, then oh well. From the moment i got her its been in S+ mode with M all the way up to redline and no issues. But whatever makes you sleep worry free at night is all that matters.

I track my cars very frequently and I can tell you that a proper break in will come in handy mostly when you put a lot of pressure on the car.

S+ and redlining from day one may not cause short term reliability issues, however it could lead to bad gas mileage as well as engine oil loss, and engine problems down the line.

I've seen people getting denied warranty work by Mercedes because of improper break-in and engine blowing up, so don't get too cocky.

Well of course corporate will tell you to take it easy on the motor. They would attempt to convince you to keep it under 4k rpms until the warranty lapses if they could get away with it

Chill bro, they break the motor in at the factory. Thus, no requirement to break the motor in yourself.

More food for break-in thought...and the mentality my old high school small engine shop teacher preached back in the day. I've done this with all my new cars and have had zero mechanical issues across 200k+ miles.

I guess that depends on what is the definition of an AMG motor. The C450 and C43 have a motor with AMG tuning/technology in them. AMG claims it is an AMG motor here. But it certainly isn't hand-built and certainly doesn't have the power/performance of the M178 (which, by the way doesn't have the power/performance of the M279). Does that matter? If the M178 were exactly the same, but built on a regular assembly line instead of an assembly line where one person follows the engine, would it suddenly no longer be an AMG engine?

Regardless if the engine is built on an assembly line by one person, or by a number of different people and robots, MB still says the engine requires break-in. Many people choose to ignore that, and say the manufacturer is being over-cautious.

No one is being cocky, atleast not me. I simply stated that if you feel more comfortable breaking in your motor then by all means do so. But I personally dont feel that this motor is an AMG motor despite that is what is being advertised from MB. It's a great selling point hence why their sales are only growing. And I never had a problem with my old na c350 motor as I ripped on it the moment i had it with 3 miles and I did the same with this car. Maybe I don't care for it as much because this is a lease for me and I do not plan on buying it. Others may want to own their car and take it easy.Like I said, whichever makes people feel better at night in regards to THEIR car. Nice c63 btw, real amg
